He sent out his apprentice Darth Maul to kill Queen Padme Amidala and Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sidious again plotted against the Jedi, this time sending his new apprentice Count Dooku, a.k.a Darth Tyranus to do his work. He later turns Anakin to the dark side, and dies by his hand as the Emperor Palpatine.

He is now a theatre director, and from 1990 to 2001 was Joint Artistic Director
of London's Almeida Theatre in Islington. He and Jonathan Kent revived the
Almeida and persuaded many Hollywood stars including Kevin Spacey, Ralph Fiennes
and Anna Friel to tread the boards in their humble theatre. They won the coveted
London Evening Standard Award in 1998 for their efforts.
