Anakin and his mother, Shmi, were slaves, and sold to Watto. While owned by Watto, he made C-3PO. He is also the only human capable of Podracing. He raced against Sebulba to get the Jedi's money to get the starship parts. He also won his freedom, and got a crush on Queen Amidala. Unfortunately, he had to leave his mother behind. After the liberation of Naboo, the Council allowed Obi-Wan Kenobi to take Anakin as his Padawan learner. Anakin and Obi-Wan were assigned to protect Amidala, who was now Senator of Naboo, from assassination attempts possibly by Separatists threatening the Republic. It was the first time Anakin and Padmé had seen each other in a decade. When he bought Padmé to Naboo, he become more in love with her, but she resisted, saying that it wouldn't be right. He was overcome with nightmares about his mother, and, defying orders, they left Naboo to return to Tatooine and seek out Shmi. They discovered that a moisture farmer named Cliegg Lars had freed and married Shmi, and that the Sand People had taken her, and she had been missing for a month. He found her in a Tusken encampment, got to her in enough time to be there when she died. In revenge, he killed everone in the village. He returned to the Lars Homestead to bury his mother's body, and confessed his actions to Padmé. Anakin and Padmé next went to Geonosis, to rescue Obi-Wan's from the Separatist forces that had captured him. He and Padmé were captured, and joined Kenobi in an execution arena. Their death was cut short with the arrival of Jedi reinforcements. Obi-Wan and Anakin attempted to intercept Count Dooku, who cut off Anakin's arm in the battle. He was saved by Yoda. After Anakin's arm was replaced with a mechanical one, he accompanied Senator Amidala back to Naboo, and they were secretly wed by a Naboo holyman witnessed only by C-3PO and R2-D2. Later on, he turned into Darth Vader, and fathered Luke and Leia. His son Luke was there when he died.
