Shuttlebirds Tatting Guild of Spokane
Dear Tatting Friends,
January 2009
“Butterflies are Free” is the theme for
this year’s Tatting Days and Workshop on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, 2009. We are looking forward to seeing
all of our tatting friends again and meeting many new ones.
This year’s location will be the Spokane Valley
Nazarene Church, 15515 E. 20th Ave., Spokane Valley, WA, as it has been for the past few years. The
church is easily accessible from I-90 via the Sullivan Rd exit #289. For the convenience of our out of town guests,
we have put together a list of local accommodations
with directions to the church.
Features this year: a t-shirt, theme contest,
tat-off, butterfly challenge and display area.
New this year:
registrations may be submitted by e-mail and payment made by PayPal. There is a small service charge for
payment by PayPal as indicated on the registration form. Registrations by e-mail will be held until payment is
received.
We are offering approximately 25 classes
for all skill levels that are both technique and project oriented. Class sessions are 1½ and 2 hours. Please read
the class descriptions carefully. Most of the classes are only offered once and are limited in size. For a peek at
some of the project classes, check out the pictures
provided by the teachers. The registration
& class choice form deadline is March 20, 2009, and all
classes will be filled on a first come basis. Registrations postmarked after this date are subject to a late fee.
Our teachers this year are: Lois Bresnahan, Bev
Dillon, Mimi Dillman, Patti Duff, Camelia Lambert, Mary McCarthy, and Sarah Nielson, WA; Venessa Godfrey, OR; Jackie
Kidd and Dale Pomeroy, UT; and Sherry Pence, ID (and Korea).
This year’s t-shirt will be Purple with White Butterflies.
(We hope to have the design available soon.) T-shirts must be ordered and pre-paid with your registration. To insure
receiving a shirt, your registration must be postmarked by the deadline. A very limited number may be available at
the workshop. T-shirts can also be purchased by non-workshop attendees by sending the registration form, t-shirt fee
and $6.00 for postage and handling by the deadline.
The schedule of events
will be the same as last year. Friday’s hours are 11:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. with two class sessions. Saturday’s
hours are 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with three class sessions. The Tat Social will be Friday evening starting at 5:00,
with the Tat-Off at 7:00. The group photo will be taken on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Meals on both days are included
with your registration. Guests may join you for a nominal fee. Venders will be open both days, closing at 3:00 p.m.
on Saturday
The theme
contest has 2 categories and 2 classes. Entries are limited to two per person per category per class for
a total of 8. The rules are very simple to encourage participation. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry
form. The butterfly
challenge is just for fun, to inspire some creativity and, maybe, find the hidden designer within you.
Both are open to all tatters who wish to participate. You do not have to attend the workshop to enter, but we hope
you will join us.
As always, there will be lots of door prizes
(donations cheerfully accepted) and maybe even a few other surprises.
Pack your shuttles, thread and tatted treasures for
the display tables, and join us for two days of tatting fun and friends.
