1. Feedback/s and Contribution/s:

Martin Chautari, Karl E. Weber, Baban Prasad Kayastha and Friends.

With thanks I reciprocate and send you and, through your EZINE, to all people of good will in your country my best wishes on the occasion of Dashain.

By now, 21 years passed since I first visited your country to conduct a short-course, or long course rather, of five weeks. By then, I already had taught and advised some students from Nepal. As you know, their number has grown over the years. This became evident, once more, at the memorable reunions with alumni and alumnae by the end of the year 2003, in the first days of this year.

My thoughts are, of course, with all of you whom I got to know over the years, as you are celebrating Dashain. May the immediate future bring peace to your country so as to clear the path, pave the way towards rapid and sustainable development.

Very happy to receive SA 102. We just have finished Dasai and now looking forward to Tihar. This is the way life goes on flowing like a river. These festivals rejuvinates our life and keep us going. In this issue of SA the poem by the most famous poet Deokota brings us closer to nature and the lesson that he wishes to drive home is one of optimism. I admire Patricia Grinsberg for translating the poem so translucently into english. The formula ABCDE is worth pondering to remain young where Attitude is the key word. Space exploration on Titan is good to widen the horizon of our knowledge. SSS has rightly depicted the need of virtuous friend who can lead us to right path. Normally it is very rare to find such friend and the best thing is to make friendship with one's own self. Aristotle also thinks about good friends in life. The joke on Einstein expresses the simplicity of his life.

I am glad to share the information and best wishes expressed by fellow members. Looking forward to next SA.

Thanking you,

BPK

4. View/s:

v      If you can catch your all dreams, you will be the happiest person of the world.

v      If your boss is crooked minded person, you will be like a lotus under the water.

v      If you are too much positive, negative people will spoil you.

v      When you are strong enough, everything are good for you.  If you are weak, then even sweets do harm you.

5. Moral/s:

We ought to be responsible fir ourselves.  Don’t think that we can do whatever we want, just because Guru or other people do not see us.  We have to train ourselves in the spirit of honesty, until we act in the same way whether we are observed by others or not.

Tihar Special: A moral story

Once upon a time some bandits robbed a village. Then they escaped into a thick forest. Some men from the village chased them. They surrounded the forest and searched it for the robbers, but they could not find them.

When they came out of the forest they saw three farmers plowing in their field. They immediately captured them and said, "Aha! You bandits are pretending to be innocent farmers interested only in plowing! Come with us to the king, you thieves!" They tied them up and took them as prisoners to the king. He locked them in the palace dungeon.

Then a woman began coming to the palace courtyard. For several days she came and cried, as if in mourning.

One day the king heard her cries and asked her to come inside. He asked why she was crying. She said, "I have heard that my husband, son and brother are all your prisoners, my lord."

The king had the three men brought up from the dungeon. Being a generous ruler, he said to the woman, "I will give you one of these three. Which one do you choose?"

The woman asked, "Can't you give me all three, my lord?" The king replied, "No, I cannot."

After carefully considering, she said, "If you will not give me all three, then give me my brother, oh lord king."

The king was surprised by her choice. He said, "You should choose your husband or son. Why would you want your brother instead?"

The smart woman replied, "Oh my lord, when I go out onto the roadway, a new husband would be easy to find. And then I could easily have another son. A husband or a son is easy to come by in this world. But since my parents are dead, I could never get another brother!"

The king was impressed by the intelligence and thinking ability shown by this simple woman. Some of his own ministers were not nearly as smart! So he decided to reward her. He said, "I return all three to you - your brother, husband and son."

The moral is: It's a fortunate brother who has an intelligent sister.

The Nature of Human Nature
by George F.
Will

These are the best of times for the worst of people. And for the toxic idea at the core of all the most murderous ideologies of the modern age. That idea is that human nature is, if not a fiction, at least so watery and flimsy that it poses no serious impediment to evil political entities determined to treat people as malleable clay to be molded into creatures at once submissive and violent.

What's the difference between an auto mechanic and a quantum mechanic?
The quantum mechanic can get the car inside the garage without opening the door.

One day a husband was chiding his beautiful blonde wife about leaving her keys in the ignition of her car.

"If I take them out of the car I lose them," she reasoned.

"Yes dear, but what if someone steals your car?" the husband countered.

"Oh that's okay," the wife chirped happily, "I keep a spare key in the glove box!"

8. Breaking News:

October 31. Travel to Manichur.

Travel to my office Manichur where I left in Aswin 1, 2061.  My room has been occupied by game scouts without my permission. The main culprit was Mr. Kunwar, Kharidar of the office.  I lost some of my personnel belongings including my precise notebook, files with important letters and personally used materials.

November 1, Kathmandu. Family get together party at Putali Sadak (Butterfly Road) in Arun Malla’s Home.

A important and precise family get together party of relatives was organized by my Thulo-baa and Thulo-aama in their home “Malla Niwas” Putalisadak, Kathmandu.  SSS, Hema and A1 were present from SA family. We come to know Mr. Kedar Pokharel, Laxmi Malla Pokharel Didi including sisters and brothers. Brother Dwarika and his mother also present there.  We found brother Arun Malla and Bhauju very generous to make the party very successful and enjoyable.

At the mean time my daughter wakes me up to swift into computer or my bed room.  I saw the dream where I slept watching TV. I wonder if my daughter is goddess Bajrayogini or someone else. 10. Note/s:

What is the difference between Heart attacks and strokes?

A heart attack is the result of a sudden drastic decrease in the blood supply to the heart muscles usually because a clot has blocked one of the arteries supplying blood to the heart. This means that enough oxygen does not reach that part of the heart, ehich is then damaged.  If treated on time, the damage does not prevent the heart from functioning normal again.  However, once a heart attack occurs, it usually makes the heart more vulnerable to attacks in future.

A stroke occurs due to a sudden disturbance in the blood supply to the brain.  This happens either due to a clot in the blood vessel (artery) or when a blood vessel breaks which interrupts the blood flow to the brain.  A stroke or brain attack kills the brain cells in the immediate area.  When the brain cells die, control of abilities, which that area of the brain once controlled, are lost.  This includes functions such as speech, movement and memory.

If you wish to be always young, make your heart always clean drinking more pure water, thinking more pure matters and loving to all your lovely environments.

What makes popping corn pop?

Corn is a generic term to describe the fruit (grain) of cereal plants in particular. In Britain corn generally refers to wheat. However, in the US, the word corn refers to maize. Popping corn is just one of the many varieties of maize grown commercially.

The bulk of tissue within a grain of corn is called the endosperm. Endosperm is specialized storage tissue providing nutrients for the embryo when the seed germinates. It is also a source of carbohydrates for humans. In popcorn, the outer part of the endosperm is hard but the center is soft. When the corn is heated, the water in the central part turns to steam causing the seed to burst (the pop that you hear) and turn inside out.
