MANY RETURNS OF THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY OF ANUSHA!!!

I am very pleased to receive SA 106. It always adds to my knowledge and keeps me update on happenings in Nepal and other countries. I am enlightened by message of SSS. The research on Neem in India may turn out to be a good hope for AIDS a dreaded disease afflicting the world. Incidentally the world is going to celebrate AIDS DAY. Let us hope rich countries offer more money and materials to fight the disease in developing countries where it is spreading fast.

Today Nepal is hosting Second World Buddhist Conference. May this conference bring peace to Nepal and world as a whole!

I am happy to note that the National Association of Romote Sensing and Photogrammetry has elected new office holders for two years. I wish them success.

With best wishes,

BPK

Troubles fall on man, not on stones!

Do troubles fall on stones rather than man?

Hails strike the flowers first to fall rather than the leaves.

As broader is the chest

So it faces more troubles

The tornado rises in the sea

Not in ravines, nor rivulets.

“I may be drowned or dead”

Is what you fear.

Drowned and dead are the thousands

To make the world go ahead.

As a man, you must rise up

As a man, you must face troubles.

Only walking through rough and smooth

Will make you a man indeed.

9. Recall/s:

Dream 28 Nov 2004: Suman Kharel, Malla and friends traveling to mountain fair weather road by two motor cycles. There were army check points in some places.  In one place landslide damaged the road, which makes driving difficult.  I stopped at tea shop after checking point. My motor bike could not start due to lack of fuel/patrol.  Malla went ahead with his friend.  Suman Kharel wanted to take lift with me, but my wife was accompanying with me.  So I could not give lift to him.

Dream 26 Nov 2004: Along the big river like, crowd with students in Bangkok Thai girls and boys.  Opposite big mountain like Dhankuta, Wooden ladders were moving automatically.  I saw a narrow ladder path with tunnel like pass in the beginning.  After climbing some ladders, the crowd becomes thin.  I saw some old ladies too. I looked on my wife and kids around the crowd they are following to me. (Sapana)

Albert Einstein’s alcohol-powered fridge out from cold

The Guardian, Berlin, Nov 2.  Albert Einstein is the best known as the last century’s most famous genius.  But as well as coming up with his theory of relativity, he was also responsible for a less celebrated discovery – a fridge.  Nearly 80 years after he invented it, a group of German physicists are now building Einstein’s unique alcohol-powered fridge for the first time.  He invented this fridge together with his fellow scientist Leonard Szillard in 1926.  Einstein invented this model after reading a news report of how an ordinary fridge had poisoned a sleeping family with leaked Sulphur dioxide from its pump.

Antoine Lavoiser (1743 – 1794)

Antone Laurent Lavoisier was born on 26 August 1743 in Paris, France.  In 1771 he married 13 years old Marie Anne Pierrette Paulze, who later proved to be a scientific colleague to him and drew the sketches of his apparatus and laboratory including all of the drawings of his book “ Elemenary Treatise on Chemistry”.

Lavoisier is regarded as the father of modern chemistry.  He is remembered particularly for his work on gases, gunpowder, and combustion.  He named both oxygen and hydrogen, observing that these two gases combine to produce water.  He named a total of 33 elements, most of which are still in use today.  He completely overturned the phlogiston theory of combustion.  Despite all of the contributions to science and France made by him in his 51 year life, it was due to his connection with Ferme Generale, he was guillotined on 8 May 1794. Following the execution of Lavoisier, a fellow scientist, the Italian born French mathematician Joseph Louis lagrange, commented: “A moment was all that was necessary to strike off his head and probably a hundred years will not be sufficient to produce another like it.”

Within two years of Lavoisier’s death, the regretful French were unveiling busts of him.
