Very pleased to receive SA 59 &60. But sorry that most of the contents were blurred and not readable. Anyway sometimes it may happen like that. It is interesting to know that a wild boar could kill a leopard. It shows that it is not always the victory of the strong even the weak can win the battle.

With best wishes,

3. Poem/s:

What a wonder here in Nepal

The sun rises from the east usually.

What a wonder here in Nepal,

It is likely to be raised from the middle of the sky.

We believed that multiparty democracy is good for the people and the country.

What a wonder here in Nepal,

It destroyed the peace, prosperity and progress of the people and the country,

It declined the living standard of the people.

Multiparty democracy is become mad.

It is better to be a mad than to be a bad person.

Nahunu maamaa bhandaa kaano maamaa niko. (Nepali proverb)

5. Shree Sadhak Satyam (SSS):

You can never be wrong, if you listen to the natural responses of your inner real self. The more we practice spiritually, the better we should be able to understand others and treat them magnanimously. We should be more capable of accepting other people's opinions and levels of understanding, as well as respecting their freedom of thought. This is a free universe!

10. Note/s:

.. The Bicycle Thief (1948)
. Golden Globe Award: Best Foreign Film - 1950
New York Film Critics Circle Award: Best Foreign Language Film - 1949

Set in post-World War II Rome, The Bicycle Thief tells a simple story well, relying for its impact on gritty realism and emotional verity. There are no subplots, there are just a few key characters, the dialogue is the day-to-day talk of poor people struggling to survive - not the ingredients for heady debate over coffee after the movie.
bicyclethief.jpg (10277 bytes)Still, it is a film one will not quickly forget.  Director Vittorio de Sica pioneered a lean, stark presentation with nonprofessional actors. The style, with its subject matter based on  hard  postwar life, epitomizes Italian neorealism. Here we follow the fortune of Antonio, a family man whose wife pawns their household linens so that they can reclaim from the same pawnshop a bicycle that is required for a job he has been offered. Jobs are scarce and the family is poor; much depends on possession of the bike.
The bicycle is stolen on Antonio's first day at work and he and his young son search the streets of Rome in hopes of recovering it. A series of frustrating episodes mark the day, tension and desperation growing as chances for recovering the bicycle, and with it, their dashed hopes, fade. The events of the day, from a confrontation with a suspect and his neighbors, to a respite with an ill afforded restaurant meal, to a visit to a fortune teller have a cumulative effect, deepening our understanding of, and feelings for, father and young son. Their humanity glows, even through their misery, and their despair becomes ours.

What is a civet cat anyway?

Before news of the latest SARS outbreak hit, we'd never even heard of an animal called the civet cat, so we welcomed the chance to learn more. Information on these rodent-like animals was easy enough to locate with a simple search.

Turns out civet cats are not cats at all. Hailing from Africa and the East Indies, the animal is closer to a mongoose than to any type of feline, although it is a distant relative of the common house cat. With its masked face, cat-like body, and long tail, it bears a resemblance to the raccoon. The nocturnal animal feasts on fruit, as well as a certain type of coffee bean, whose crops have been increasingly encroaching on the civet cat's habitat.

The civet cat is fairly valuable in Asian markets -- its meat is considered a delicacy, its musk is used to make perfumes, and it's often hunted for its fur. In some parts of the world, the little critter has become an endangered species. Recent developments have not helped the fate of the civet cat.

During the initial SARS outbreak, the animal came under suspicion as a possible source of the virus and was banned from markets. When the outbreak died down, they made their way back onto the menu in many of the Chinese restaurants that specialize in wildlife, only to be banned again just last week. Although there is no conclusive proof that the animals are contributing to the spread of SARS, thousands of masked palm civets have been drowned or electrocuted in an effort to stop the outbreak.

Did you know at the height of Eddie Murphy's popularity in the mid 1980s, Murphy began a music career, spawning the popular song "Party all the Time", which he recorded with Rick James? Also recorded an album in the early '90s entitled "Whazzupwitu", in which he performs in a video of the single of the same name, alongside Michael Jackson.
