Very happy to receive SA 71 and enjoyed going through it. I am happy to read about useful tips you have given for health. The attack on Beni and whisking away of CDO and DSP is a challenge to the Govt. It is surprising that how Govt is preparing for election when they cann't protect the district head quarter. Anyway we are all suffering from lack of vision on the part of the Govt and we will live with it. Let us pray for end of crisis as more and more innocent people are suffering.

With my best wishes

2. Moral: Happiness Even with Disease:

Almost all of us agree that one becomes worried when he/she comes to know
that he/she is suffering from Tuberculousis (T.B.). But one incident
happened with me that patient rather expressed happiness when I informed him
that he was suffering from Tuberculosis. One old  patient was referred to me
for the treatment of chronic ulcer on tip of the tongue with bilateral
submandibular enlarged lymphnodes. He was suspected having Cancer (Squamous
Cell Carcinoma) of tongue. I did the incisional biopsy of  tip of  tongue &
sent for histopathology examination. Histopath. Exam. Report suggested
Tuberculosis & was confirmed by direct smear test for Mycobacterium
Tuberculi. .Patient was very happy to know that he was suffering from easily
treatable Tuberculosis, not from deadly disease, cancer of the tongue. Photo
of  above mentioned Ulcer of tongue can be viewed at http://www.oocities.org/shyamsundarshrestha/tonguetb.jpg

4. View/s:

  • Do not feel weak yourself and do not think enemies are also weak.
  • Do not underestimate, curse and oppose the enemies, which make them stronger than you.
  • Strong and healthy tiger do not kill weak animals. Strong governments do not kill rebels after capture and do not banned for peaceful demonstrations.
  • There is no good school than nature itself and there is no good lover than your own grandmother/mother/wife/daughters.

5. Shree Sadhak Satyam (SSS):

Permanent and Everlasting Progress

Sound health, well-trained brains, attractive personality, plenty of wealth along with the favourable situation and opportunity is needed for materialistic progress. Exotic success depends upon the availability of the aforesaid means in their corresponding quantities.

But the aspects of self progress its value and the pleasure from it is in fact incomparable with the worldly pleasures. For the real success and achievement of this sort of development only two means are needed - first the emotional praying and second spiritual discipline, the inward way or Sadhana in daily life.

The most inevitable thing needed for this purpose is self-discipline with determined mind and utmost faith in the performance of the activities. Spiritual attainment along with the worldly progress and prosperity can be achieved through this method.

The real value of life and its success depends upon the prosperity of the spiritual aspect of the life; this aspect needs firm determination. The achievement of the worldly progress lasts so long it is gained. Once the stage is reached then gradually the thing of joy and inquisitiveness itself becomes perilous. Therefore the one who wants to make his life a worthy life, desires to achieve peace, and must always be alert and ready to focus oneself towards self-development. Praying and devotion are indeed the basic actives for reaping the benefits.

6. Quote/s:

From lover the world is born, by love it is sustained, towards love it moves and into love it enters.

7. Joke/s:

A Brit, a Frenchman and a Russian are viewing a painting of Adam and Eve frolicking in the Garden of Eden.

"Look at their reserve, their calm," muses the Brit. "They must be British."

"Nonsense," the Frenchman disagrees. "They're naked, and so beautiful. Clearly, they are French."

"No clothes, no shelter," the Russian points out, "they have only an apple to eat, and they're being told this is paradise. They are Russian."

March 26: Kathmandu, Nepal. Mrs. Pratishtha Amatya, daughter of Dr. Ananda Prasad Shrestha and Mrs. Sagar Prabha Shrestha, has set a new Guinness Record for memorizing random objects in her attempt made today at Novel Academy, Kathmandu, Nepal. She memorized 75 objects and reproduced them both in serial and random order in front of a huge crowd inside the academy. She broke the current Guinness Record of Adel Anwar of London, UK, who memorized and then recalled 55 random items in the order that they were read to him. Those of you who have an access to broadband internet connection can watch a piece of this event in Kantipur news at http://www.kantipuronline.com/tv.php (please select 18.00 hour news, mentioned after first 6 minutes and fifty seconds).

 9. Recall/s:

Dream 7 April: We (TG, RP and other teachers of Gland School) were visiting a restaurant looking for beautiful and nice girls in the place.  We were in second floor of the restaurant waiting for girls.  The building was tiled roofed, old and weak.  At the same time earthquake started.  We tried to escape from the place, but earthquake continued for 5 minutes.  We were lucky, there were not casualties.  The building could sustain from the quake since it was made up of a lot of wooden pillars and beams.

We are in fear if another stronger shocks of earthquake.  We come to the open marshy field south of the building.  Many people are outside on the field.  We tried to go far away from tall buildings.  We claimed from a rope.  Some girls are also climbing from the rope.  When we reach on a side of a beautiful building, we saw the rope without nailed or free end.  We surprised how could we reached over there with such rope.  I call to my home, but no line in my cordless. We think to travel from the Ring road the east to the north.

10. Note/s:

What is bird flu and how is it transmitted?

Bird flu, or avian influenza, is a Type A influenza virus that affects mostly birds and occasionally pigs. The virus can pass from bird to bird when it is inhaled and from contact with infected droppings. Contaminated equipment, infectious particles carried on the feet and bodies of animals, and migratory waterfowl can spread the disease. Since December 2003, a highly pathogenic strain has devastated dozens of Asian domestic poultry stocks, and several human infections have been reported.

According to the CDC, which offers a basic fact sheet on the virus, bird flu is especially pernicious to humans because we lack the necessary immune protections against the disease.

All influenza viruses are dangerous because they are prone to change; the Hong Kong flu pandemic of 1968 killed 34,000 people in the United States. The World Health Organization's excellent Bird Flu FAQ notes that no human-to-human transmissions have been reported.

There's much warranted concern about the latest outbreak -- it has spread rapidly and is highly pathogenic. For the latest headlines on the Bird Flu situation, check Yahoo! Full Coverage.

Tom's observation is right on. True, tourism in Nepal is
dominated by foreign players but this is an inevitable
consequence of 'neo-liberalising' the tourism industry i.e.
blindly relying on laissez faire market driven approach to
deliver development to Nepal. Not only do foreign players have
the capital and market-savvyness but they are also best
positioned to attract tourists who mostly reside outside of
Nepal, and to, therefore, profit most from promotion of
tourism in Nepal. Domestic  tourism is in its infancy in
Nepal. The goal of the private sector, needless to say, is not
poverty alleviation, but profit.

This is where the NGOs / INGOs / Nepali government / civil
society come in: to align the profit motive of the private
sector better with the development of Nepal so that crumbs of
tourism revenues fall in the coffers of the government and a
pittance in the plate of rural Nepal. In the little space that
they have, these institutions and stakeholders craft policies,
hold endless conferences, pontificate on amorphous concepts
like 'eco-tourism', and 'sustainable tourism', and come up
with recommendations / policies that are long on fantastical
vision but short on sound implementation. The documents sit on
selves and collect dust, serving no better purpose than as
references to countless research papers and publications.

True, a lion's share of the tourism pie is captured by the
foreign players. This is not an indictment since they are only
operating according to market imperatives - while the other
domestic players and stakeholders, private or non-private, are
simply squabbling over the destiny of the remaining tourism
pie. Why is foreign domination tolerated? Firstly, because
Nepal has very little choice. Secondly, as a country where
the average Nepali lives under USD 1 dollar per day (per
capita income is much less than USD 365, actually closer to
USD 250), even an increase in per capita income of 1-2 cents
counts for a lot. And this justifies liberalization even if
the lion's share is captured by outside interests and
repatriated. Not only that, Nepal is supposed to feel thankful
for liberalization.

As the vested interests in the tourism sector are entrenched,
and Nepal is foreign aid dependent (and susceptible to
dictates of foreign donor countries), I do not see how Nepal
can ever gain control of the tourism industry of Nepal. Can a
'beggar' be a chooser?

If any country has a very good control over its tourism
industry and uses the tourism revenues to subsidize the health
care and education needs of its people through the government
channel, it is Bhutan. But the vested interests would never
allow Nepal to pursue a tourism policy similar to that of
Bhutan, even if the policy would benefit the people of Nepal
more since at least a lion's share of the tourism pie would
then be captured by domestic players and stakeholder.

became a point of conflict that demonstrated the historic
ironies of Chipko as well as the continuing struggle of the
people for their local resource rights.
