Thank you very much for your Happy Official Nepali New Year 2061 BS greetings. We wish the same to you. In Nepal there are seven happy new years in a year or 365 days.

WBR,

Shyam and SA Family

*********************

I would like to thank all dear friends, seniors, respected teachers for their Happy New Year Greeting of 2061 BS to me.  Some of the greetings received via email are given below:

The first quarter of the year 2004 has passed. Fond memories of my visit to your country around year end 2003 / beginning of this year and our reunion have not faded. You have kept me posted by sharing your communications with me, and several of our friends have exchanged messages with me. ……

By the lunar calendar, two events will be celebrated shortly. Originally, they fell onto the same date, Easter and Thai New Year, SONGKRAN. About fifty years ago, the date of Thai New Year was fixed, though, to be celebrated on 13th April. Now, it is the first of a three-day National Holiday.

On these occasions, I send you greetings and my best wishes for the immediate future, for yourself and all your compatriots - SWADDI  PI  MAI  2547.

Karl E. Weber

(Note: He is a member of my thesis advisor committee and a good teacher ever known in AIT.  He served AIT as the capacity of Dean of SERD and Vice President of AIT in many years.  Many people still recall his academic and administrative excellence work for development of AIT.)

Very happy to receive SA 72 & 73. I am glad to note that there are several
good messages expressed there. I am sure we can make peace with our life as
well as with our enemies if we follow them in practice. Lord Buddha also
emphasises love and peace towards enemy. Most often we become our own enemy.
So the real victory is to win your own self. Gita also says your own mind is
your enemy and your own mind is your friend. Let us all strive to win over
our mind through emulating values expressed in SA72 &73.

With best wishes,

BPK

Nepali Press under Emergency: A Survey of the First Six Months
by Binod Bhattarai

pp. vi+58

ISBN 99933 43 56 0

Rs 50

This book is an effort by Centre for Investigative Jourmalism to understand the capacity of journalists to adequately inform on the present conflict. The analysis is based on what the mainstream press - limited to the Nepali-language broadsheet dailies - reported and wrote about during the first six months of the emergency starting 26 November, 2001. It attempts to gauge the effectiveness of press coverage in terms of accuracy, fairness and balance in order to assess whether the newspapers with the widest reach have or have not helped increase our understanding of the crisis.

Apart from helping the general public understand how the media functions in general, it will also come in handy for journalism trainers in designing investigative and conflict-sensitive reporting training programmes since it is replete with examples of what should be done and what must be avoided.

  • King should keep quiet since the King is the incarnation of the god.  God should bless all, but not to travel here and there.
  • Only the constitutional king will be sustainable and long lasting in the present world.
  • There is nothing more important than this living universe and the mother earth.  Nation is only a part of this universe and the earth.

5. Shree Sadhak Satyam (SSS):

During hours of despair, faith can keep you vigilant. Faith on the road taken should be unshakable and unlimited. Faith is a matter of heart and not the matter of head. Normally, we are habituated to live by logics, reasons and calculations so questions do come to us at our endeavours.

Your attitude and moral standards of today are largely affected, shaped and controlled by the events of your past lives, particularly immediate past life. Limited by knowledge and capacity, beginners cannot catch sight of their merits and cultures of past lives. If you know the ways of past lives sadhana can become simpler and more straightforward. Is there any way to make the way more direct and fruitful?

Yes there is. To be assisted by the one who has travelled into the most wanted secrets; completed the journey and the one who has measured every inch between the crossroads and the final destination- He is GURU, a great being and a seer. Remember, he is not an ordinary being but is a great authority and to come across him/her is a rare opportunity. Once you are close to a true GURU, you can suppose that half of your work is done.

8. Breaking News:

Elisha Cuthbert Is The Naughty 'Girl Next Door' (MadBlast.com)

If only we all lived next door to porn stars. We could save a lot of money on rentals if we only had to look across the lawn, as Emile Hirsch’s character does in The Girl Next Door. Whereas most of us see normal looking people at best, he gets to see Elisha Cuthbert. And though she does not take off everything in the film, she plays sexy in a way she never gets to on TV’s 24.

“I think just personally for myself, I had a place where I felt like I had to stop, which was full nudity,” Cuthbert said. “I push it to a certain point, obviously, in the opening, but Luke [Greenfield, the director] and I talked about it, and I had a strong opinion on the fact that we could make a teen comedy and not have to do full nudity. Right now in my career, I don’t feel the need to go there. Maybe down the line I will, I really don’t know. But at this point in time in my career I don’t feel like it’s necessary.”

So why take a porn star character if she doesn’t want to...
