	Elistratov started his life in the military and left as an officer. He was transferred to GRU and spent time working on intelligence gathered by the agency. After a dispute with a superior he was transferred to the 1st Chief Directorate of the KGB, then later he became Chief of Directorate K of the SVR. Despite having a patchy history, Elistratov has proved his doubters wrong.
