Catch 'n Snatch

Bella frowned at the inside of the van. This was not to her liking. She sat down, pouting a little and waited for whoever was behind her to climb in. The got moving, painfully slowly and she rolled her eyes sighing deeply. But as Jordy called for their attention her mind switched directly to the task at hand.

So she was pulling up the rear, paired with Declan, it seemed that despite her own section background Jordy still preferred Paige at her side, made sense, after all Bella had only been with this group for a few months. She took the thermo-balls and grinned at them, gently throwing it in the air and catching it again, she loved these little things. Simon made a little sound as she did this which bought another grin to her, but she quickly forgot that and bought her mind back to what Jordy was saying.

Right, plant the ball, call it in, then they would move on in. Simple catch and snatch…was that the phrase…ah heck who cared. She got out of the van and raised her face to the rain, her gear kept her dry for now but she didn't care if it didn't. The weather was warm which made the situation even more enjoyable. In her mind there couldn't be better weather. She laughed at the sky and then moved off as Declan joined her. They exchanged a glance, his read `You're a very strange lady', and her read, `damn straight.'

They moved, and split, deposited their thermo-balls where required and reported in. She heard the bantering and added her two cents to it. She was smiling as she met up with Declan to wait for their go ahead. The two sat silently, comfortable with the situation, well at least as much as one could be in the rain. Bella contemplated the last time she'd been in rain like this, it had been back in London, and she had not had the time to stop and enjoy it. This time she was going to savour every moment. She loved rain, and she loved summer rain even more.

There was the call to move in. Right ok, time to grab these kids. It was almost a shame to be going inside. Bella moved forward, Declan moving away from her but moved with her, they were both cautious as they approached the door at the back of the warehouse.

Simon reported one of them on the move, Bella couldn't help but roll her eyes momentarily, nothing ever went as smoothly as planned with this lot. But there was nothing she could do about it so she kept moving, Declan covering her back, and her his. Their training together over the last few weeks meant that they were quite good at working as a team already. They quickly moved in, clearing their areas as they went until they reached the door that would lead them to the cafeteria. Declan planted himself firmly on the opening side of the door, Bella frowned at him as she reported they were in place.

They waited, that kid on the move had to be dealt with, they were here for all of them. One more team member would have been the ideal situation, two to go after the kid and one to back herself and Declan up in the cafeteria. Jordy made the call. One person going after the teen? Well this wasn't the best situation, and Jordy had probably made the best call she could.

They moved in. Declan flung the door open and moved in, Bella followed him; she'd have to talk to this boy. He seemed to be playing protector, or was she being too sensitive, someone had to go through the door first, why should it be her? She wasn't exactly senior to him in the SIA, and his training in SWAT might equal her Section training…not likely. Different worlds, question was, which world made one or the other of them more qualified in this one? Did it matter? This must be her competitive streak rising up, she hadn't felt competitive for years, why now? Doesn't matter her mind should be on the job.

Jordy came through the other door at the same time she started yelling at the kids, `On your knees' she called, not really yelling more just making sure she was heard and they believed she had the power. Bella silently supported her authority and moved around the kids so that effectively they were surrounded. Declan stared down one that looked like he'd bolt, Crash override, that was his name, she thought. What silly names these kids had.

They were co-operative, mostly, the girl immediately started asking question though, she moved slowly, calmly and met Bella eyes solidly. "What's going on?" Bella just looked at her "Who are you?" Acid Burn tried again but Bella offered her nothing but a smile. Not that it could have been seen through her mask.

Paige reported she'd caught her bird and Jordy ordered them back to the cafeteria, if this was Jordy's first lead it wasn't noticeable, she was certainly confident in it. Their leader spoke, `Ok kids; stand up, slowly, hand where we can see them.'

Bella moved toward them a little making sure none of them felt that their standing gave them more freedom, nothing like a bit of menacing proximity to maintain power. Declan and Jordy also took steps forward as Paige entered with her catch.

"That's all of them." Paige said as her joined the other three.

"Let's get them out of here then." Jordy said

Bella took Acid Burn, Declan took Crash, Paige stayed with Ultra laser, and Jordy took Cereal Killer, who, Bella noted, looked like he might actually be insane.

They led their teenagers back out to the van with little to no fuss, they didn't try to run, nor did they give any lip, they were well behaved for sixteen year olds. But then most people are at the end of a gun.

Bella thought for a minute, would she really shoot one of these kids? Sixteen years old, it's not much time on this earth. Yet here they were, they'd caught the attention of the government, and SIA and their lives were about to change. She smiled to herself, if perhaps someone had grabbed her at sixteen her life would have been much different. Better? Who Knows, she loved her job but would she have been ready for it all those years ago. Perhaps not sixteen, but seventeen, things changed then, she became who she was now in that year, yeah she'd have coped, but that still didn't answer the question, would she really shoot these kids if they pushed it? If they pushed it too far…you bettya.

It was cramped in the van, uncomfortably so, but they all fit, somehow, Bella found herself almost standing just behind the front seats, Acid had her seat, which was ok, Simon was driving this boat there wouldn't be any trouble keeping her feet with the way he drove. The kids were hooded and tied and Bella was relieved to take her mask off, breathing was so much easier when one didn't have to do it through material.
