Chopin is a
multiple BIS winner & multiple Best in Group Winner, Challenge Dog
Sydney Royal 1998. This beautiful dog has surprised us all.
At the age of three months, Chopin broke his leg in two places. He
was in plaster for 10 weeks, with a lot of care, swimming and exercise
we had him back in the ring.
First show back Chopin won Minor Puppy in Show, I was delighted, but
Chopin had more bad luck to come.
At the same show a bullmastiff broke his chain and headed straight for
Chopin. I just managed to reef him off the ground in time with the
mastiff snapping at his heels.
I was becoming neurotic when it came to this dog, but Chopin's
temperament never changed.
Well I hate to say this but there is more, two weeks later Chopin was
attacked by a visiting bitch 4 weeks in whelp. A trip to the vets
to assess the damage and I was informed of his injuries.
Chopin had ligament damage to his spine and his inner calf muscle was
torn in half. I loved this dog and had come to terms with the fact
that he most likely would not be shown again. Chopin took months
to heal, in fact for the first few weeks or so he could hardly
walk. But the most amazing thing about this dog is his
temperament, nothing ever fazes him. Even to this day Chopin is so
gentle.
I would never give him up.
The day he became Grand Champion I cried, as never in my mind did a dog
deserve it more. Chopin has sired his first two litters that will
soon hit the show ring.
