Our Class: A Growing Bond of Friendship

It’s been five years since I first joined the original accelerated group, which featured most of the class that will graduate a year early this March. It’s strange to think that back then, in Grade One, none of us thought we would reach this level. As we progressed through the different grade levels, we saw some of our classmates leave against their will. We then feared that we would be plagued with the same fate even before we reached Grade Six. But, alas, here we are, ready to claim our place in La Sallian history as another group that stood out from the rest.

Through the years, amidst the books, the tests, the Sad slips, the report cards, the terror teachers, we have developed a friendship that can only be found in people you meet five days a week, four weeks a month and nine months a year. That’s the best thing about being in the accelerated class. No, it’s not the “being special” stuff. No, it’s not the good feeling that you feel when every other class out there boos you and wants so hard to beat you. And no, contrary to popular belief, it’s not the P50,000 we’re not going to pay for Grade Seven. It’s the friendship you have with your classmates through schoolyear after horrendous schoolyear. The advanced group is really the only class, where you stick together with the same group through the years. Amidst the insults, the jokes, the name-calling, we are all really good friends.

And one more thing: WE ARE NOT NERDS.
