Look up & protect your birds! There has been a rip-off of a large flock of cockatiels in the Fresno area.
There is to be a Pet Show sponsored by the American Pet Shows on July 24 & 25 at Moscone Convention Center in S.F. Bird Clubs have been offered a 50 foot long space - free! It can be decorated by bird displays or any motif the club desires. We would like to participate - get your thinking cap on for good ideas for decorating. We will need help.
Message from the President.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the outgoing officers for all the work and accomplishments of this past year. You all did a fine job, and I know your efforts are appreciated by all.
At our next General meeting, the program will be a Seminar on Canary breeding. This is perfect timing for the Canary breeder and should be most informative both for the novice and the experienced breeder. We would like all the participation we can get from the general membership, so I invite you to bring birds with you to discuss color, pairing, hard versus soft feather, etc. If this is the last year you will be breeding, this meeting is a must.
We will have excellent speakers and coordinators for this program.
These people include:
Margaret Roche, Type
Ralph Barnes, Type
Charlotte Le Doux, Domestic
Joe Gordon, Red Factor
Bertha Andrews, Red Factor
Gilbert Cocchetto, Red Factor
All of these people will bring at least one pair of birds, in a "set-up" breeding cage, and will discuss with the club members the do's and don'ts of their breeding system.
I have also been busy selecting this years committee and committee
chairmen. The following people have accepted the new responsibilities:
Show Director, Ron Mercer
Ass't Show Director, Ralph Barnes
Ass't Show Directory, Joe Gordon
Red Factor Show Manager, Glenn Corlew
Type Show Manager, Margaret Roche
Exotic Show Manager, Alan Thompson
Show Banquet Manager
Catalogue Managers, Margaret Roche, Ralph Barnes
Catalogue Advertising, Ruth Mitchell
Meeting Coffee Chairman, Ron Mercer
Meeting Raffle Chairman, Howard Hansel
Membership Chairman, Zoe Ann Janowsky
Bar B Que Chairman, Leonard Quieto
Program Chairman, Pat McMullan
Parliamentarian, Charlotte Le Doux
Feather Show Manager, Glenn Corlew
Ass't Feather Show Manager, Charlotte Le Doux
Show ticket & Raffle Chairman, Howard Hansel
There are still quite a few vacancies to fill, so I would appreciate any one interested in serving in any capacity to contact me as soon as possible. Remember, if you are not involved, you really are not participating in any learning experience, which is why we have club meetings.
Also, if you have any ideas, or information you would like included in the club meetings, lets speak up. What would you like to see more of? Let's hear it from all of you.
There will be a CATALOGUE MEETING on Monday February 8th at my home at 7:30 P.M. Anyone interested is invited to come to this meeting to discuss the next Show Catalogue.
Sincerely,
Joe Gordon
President
