Santa Clara Valley Canary & Exotic Bird Club
October 8, 1972
Pot-luck: 1 P.M. Meeting 1:45 P.M.
Santa Clara High School Cafetorium
corner of Washington & Bellomy Sts., Santa Clara
Dear Members,
A letter to you from Pres. Joe Gordon:
With the up coming show drawing near, I would like to share a few thoughts with you. What can we do to make our club and show the best in the country?
First, we need every member working to boost the club's activities! We need everyone pulling together, sharing experiences, both successes and failures. Perhaps you can save another member the grief of your mistakes.
We should be working together, all seeing that new members get a good start. Nothing is more discouraging to a new member than poor breeding results. They should understand that they may not have a show winner the first year, but if a novice can raise a fair number of birds, this is encouraging enough to start planning on the next year's breeding season.
Also, also suggestions you have for speakers or programs will be greatly appreciated.
Here's a little test to see how you score as a club member:
Give yourself 10 pts. for each “yes” answer, remember we NEED YOU!
We will need lots of help for the show this year -- so why not start thinking now, what you can do! We will discuss the show at our meeting this month.
Joe Gordon
President
THIS & THAT
We would like to welcome 2 new members and one renewal to the club. Please add their names to your membership list:
Miss Kathy Jo Taylor
Mrs. Thelma Lair
Bob Arella
Leonard Quieto will be showing various birds in their proper show cages and demonstrate the preparation of the cage for the show.
Don't forget the Raffle this month, how about adding your “bit” to the Raffle Table?
Any bird items for sale? Bring them to the meeting.
The blue chip books are coming in, did you send or bring yours as yet?
Pot-luck as usual, letters I through P, bring a HOT DISH, Q through Z bring a DESSERT and A through H bring a SALAD. Please, if you are expected to bring a hot dish, salad, or dessert, please don't substitute something else. Remember the pot-luck is only as good as you make it.
Glad to hear from Ken Murphree and to hear he is recovering from a most successful back operation.
WANTED!!!!!!
Jay's Pet Shop on Lincoln Ave. in San Jose wants to buy birds, do you have any to sell?
Heard
We had a phone call from Gino Abbate from Elizabeth, New Jersey and
he is most interested in coming to our show and showing some birds.
As we all know, he is a top breeder and authority on birds and we'd
sure be honored to have him.
