About LinguAssist | |||||||||||||
LinguAssist provides a variety of exercises for practising English. The program is designed to work as an "electronic workbook", and is intended to supplement a normal English course in much the same way as a traditional workbook, while providing a number of interactive features to help and inform the student. Students having problems with any of the exercises are advised to consult their teacher for further help - neither this nor any other program can provide a substitute for a real live teacher.

Using LinguAssist | |||||||||||||
Although LinguAssist is an text based MS-DOS program, it uses a mouse controlled, windowed interface. If you've used MS Windows, or any other GUI based environment, you should have no problems using LinguAssist.
On starting the program you will see the LinguAssist "About" dialog box, which gives information about the program version. Close the box by clicking on the OK button with the mouse or pressing the "Enter" or "Esc" keys.
You now have a clear "desktop" ( the area where you do exercises ), with a menu bar at the top and a "status line" at the bottom. The menu bar works in the normal way and can be controlled by the mouse, cursor , or shortcut keys. The status line provides status information and also doubles as a "button bar"; many menu options can be accessed by clicking on the corresponding "button" in the status line.
For more information on using LinguAssist, check out the LinguAssist help page.
