Gerhard and I were discussing the next volume of the Essential RoIO Collection <TM 1996 Gerhard den Hollander> and we have agreed that the next treed show shall be a Waters 1984 show (according to Gerhard this is volume five, it's his series so I'll take his word!)
The show is from Roger's "Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking" tour recorded at the Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rutherford, NJ on 21 July 84. There is some "echoes" of Montreal (1977) as Waters rants and raves about the "cunt" in the front with the fireworks. Guitar is supplied by one Eric Clapton, who plays excellently throughout.
The setlist is the standard setlist that was used while Clapton was in the band, i.e. "Hey You" is still in the setlist (it was dropped for "Another Brick..." in 1985). This is the only tour that "The Gunner's Dream" was ever played live, and to hear it here with Eric Clapton's guitar coda is nothing short of great (unless you don't like TFC, then....). "Running Shoes" has the extra verse that Roger sang during the live performances (see FAQ for more info).
Filler is from 3 April 85 recorded at the Oakland Coliseum. From there, I pulled "Another Brick..." and the "Final Cut "Medley, to give a complete collection of the songs played during the tour. Also, as filler, will be the "Radio K.A.O.S." promo sampler LP (thanks John). The promo LP has all of the music, but NONE of Jim Ladd's dialogue or any of the sound fx (except on "Four Minutes"). It's not much more than a curiosity piece, but I find it rather enjoyable to just listen to the songs.
Thanks to Buzzy Parrish (FloydKing@aol.com) for the title for this tree: "Byrne'd in Jersey" Sorry, I like a good pun
Very special thanks to Bob (CooneyD@aol.com) for providing a very clean, low generation source tape for the tree (all of the leafs should especially thank Bob ;))
Thanks to all of the "forefathers" of the echoes tape tree forest for all of their help and support blah blah blah......

"Radio K.A.O.S." promo sampler LP:
"Four Minutes" was removed in order to keep the tapes down to 90 mins, and besides, it's exactly like the regular CD and of course you all have that already, right? ;)
Without and further adieu, here's the tree, based loosely around the perm structure. European and Australian branch leaders get their tapes from Gerhard (gdenhollander@jason.nl) and the US/Canadian branch leaders get theirs from me (szloch@concentric.net). Enjoy!
