TRANSLOADING is a very useful tool for all WebTv'ers. When
you went to sites like Draacs Gifs and Dave's Midis, you
saw lots of pictures and sounds. To get them to your own
FILE MANAGER home page, you will need to TRANSLOAD
them.
Before I tell you how to TRANSLOAD, I ask that you
go to the site first so that you will better understand
what I am referring to. Click on TRANSLOADER below to see
it, then use your BACK button to come back
here.
Welcome back. That was the TRANSLOADER.
It will soon become an extremely useful tool if you want to
build a homepage like this.
First, a couple of facts
about TRANSLOAD. To use TRANSLOAD you will have to have a
URL for
the item you want to bring back to your site. There are
two ways to do this.
One way is to go directly to the
image you want, then hit your GOTO button, type in the URL
for TRANSLOAD or use your Fkey. Follow the simple
directions shown there.
There are 4 things you must know to
TRANSLOAD.

The URL of the image or sound you
want.
#2
Your target FTP (home site).
#3
Your
name on your homesite.
#4<>Your password.
Note,
the image you want to
TRANSLOAD must have a file name on it such as .gif,.jpg or
.mid etc. If you see .html on there, you will only get the
page, not the image or sound.
The second way to
TRANSLOAD an image is to go
directly to TRANSLOAD and manually type in the URL of the
image. Then proceed as above.
After completing that
page, hit TRANSLOAD on the bottom of the screen. This will
take you to a new page. DONT DO ANYTHING HERE. This page
will send you automatically to another page. Use your down
key to see the status of the TRANSLOAD. There will be a
tag called RELOAD near the top of the page. I usually
recommend waiting 1 minute before hitting it. Scroll down
the page and check the script to make sure the TRANSLOAD
went successfully. If everything is alright, hit the ZAP
button on the bottom of the page. You will be taken to
another page, DO NOT HIT BACK. Hit your HOME key if you
are done. If you have another URL addy to TRANSLOAD, move
down and hit TL. This will take you back to the TRANSLOAD
page so you can continue.
99.9% of the time it will,
but
occassionally I have either mistyped my account name or
password and the TRANSLOAD was not completed. I have NEVER
had a problem with the TRANSLOADER. Anthony Chu and TATUNG
have created a masterpiece of technology that works
reliably. Kudos guys.
Here are a few "tricks" I use to make TRANSLOADING easier.
First, I saved TRANSLOAD in my FAVORITES folder in my
WebPage folder. Then, in your FAVORITES folder, go to
ORGANIZE and set it up on an F-KEY. That way, if I am at a
site where I want to TRANSLOAD a picture, I hit my F-KEY
and I am ready to TRANSLOAD. This method saves me tons of
time and typing.
Remember, to TRANSLOAD an image, you
must be able to see the images URL on the description bar
below. Lets do two examples so you can see what you can
and can not TRANSLOAD.
This image can be TRANSLOADED.
Look at your description bar below and you will see DUH.GIF. This is an image you can
TRANSLOAD. Try it now.
Ok, you saw the DUH.GIF in the
description bar below. That means that is an image you can get. Now lets go to another image of the same little guy
that is not set up as an image you can TRANSLOAD. P.S. I
set this one up as an example.
Ok, see the difference. All you saw there was THE CUTE DAH GUY. That image was not an image you could TRANSLOAD. If
you tried to, you would get the page, but not the images on it.<\b>
Video Capture
WebTV has made the video camera, the VCR, and the TV our best tools for getting pictures easily onto the net without a computer.
I recommend this setup, as it personally works best for me. This is the sequence for connecting all your gadgets.
Satelite Dish, Antenna, or Cable Box
VCR
WebTV box
TV
record lead back to VCR.
This is not the only way, but it is the way I will explain how to CAPTURE VIDEO.
Here will be an example how to do it. If you have this hookup (you don't need the last part), you can CAPTURE VIDEO
Go to TRANSLOAD and select CL.
Move down to the picture of the video camera. Make sure you have a tape in the VCR and it is playing. Click on the camera. A new screen will pop up. Move down to the TV/VCR button and click it if it is not showing a picture already.
You should now see your video playing. Move over to the FREEZE box and click it. You now have a VIDEO CAPTURE.
Now ain't that EASY.
Enter a name for the VIDEO CAPTURE (make sure to use a .jpg or .gif after the name!!) that you want. Now continue like you would for any TRANSLOAD.
Go back to your FM, and guess what, there it is! Told ya it was simple. Now you can get pictures of the kids off video or anything you want and have it for your homepage in a matter of minutes.
As mentioned on the page that brought you here,
DON'T BE A PIRATE! There are plenty of sites that offer
you FREE gifs and jpgs. Would you like it if I came to
your house, stole something, then put in in my house????
Besides, if you think you are getting away with it, think
again. Many images on the Net are copyright protected and
are "watermarked". If you get caught, you can get fined,
loss of Net access, and even possible criminal prosecution. And guess what, they CAN know you where there. You don't
know it, but I have a simple program available on the Net,
on this site that tells me your ISP, your URL, the time you came here to visit me, what pages you went to, and how long you were here. Trust me, most sites now days have this
program on it to either track traffic (like myself) or to
prevent hacking. Remember this if you feel tempted to
steal from others on the Net.
