What is classification and how is it useful?
What is the procedure to use Classification in various places in SAP. What all the places Classification will be helpfull mostly. What is the procedure to use Release stratagy?
Classification is a cross application component in SAP, which means it can be used in all areas. Some of the areas Classification is used is Variant Configuration, Batch Management, Setting Release Strategies, Classifying Materials, etc,. Classification allows you build relationships and later apply them as conditions, if necessary, on transactions. To effectively define characteristics using system tables and fields, working knowledge in ABAP/4 will be indispensible.
In terms of setting Release Strategies with classification for purchasing documents you may build up your Release Strategy conditions using any field from communication structure CEBAN for purchasing requisitions and communication structure CEKKO for all other purchasing documents. To do the above you need to have knowledge of Characteristics, Classes, Class types, etc,.
I suggest you throughly study the documentation on Classification before you set up your Release Strategy with Classification.
