This was all that was required to be accepted at Computing Insights 1993.

                              Computing Insights
                              ==================

I feel that I am a good candidate for Computing Insights because I am a
determined, hard-working student. From the marks indicated on my transcript, I
am an excellent student who works hard and achieves the grades that reflect my
efforts and attitude towards education. My math marks reflect my very strong
problem solving and programming skills. I really enjoy programming because it
gives me a sense of creation and control. I enjoy all aspects of computers
whether it is programming, theory, technical knowledge, problem solving,
communicating, or even just playing computer games. I truly believe that one
is only limited by one's own imagination. I am currently enrolled in the
enhanced program in my secondary school because of my overall strengths in
problem solving and other exceptional qualities for a student. I learn and
apply knowledge very easily and efficiently. Though I am only fifteen years
old I take on a very mature attitude towards education and sometimes I am
mistaken as a University student whenever I am on campus visiting others. When
it comes to computers I like to take the initiative and begin experimenting
and discovering new and interesting things. New ideas and creations are the
driving force that allow my computer and I to continually bring my
imaginations to life. This program can really benefit me because there is a
lot of experience and knowledge I can gain to help me better understand the
exciting field of computer science.

                           Past Computer Experience
                           ------------------------

My computer experience dates back to 1984 when I received my first computer,
a Commodore 64. Since then I've had a wide variety of experience on many
platforms including Amigas, IBM's, Macintoshes, NeXTs, Apple's, and
Commodores. I have a Commodore Amiga but I enjoy working on all platforms and
I do a variety of creative projects on them. Computer animation, graphics,
sound effects, music, video titling, multimedia, BBSing, desktop publishing,
and programming are some of the activities I am involved in during my spare
time. These creations are done primarily on Amigas. I am currently taking
grade eleven programming, focusing on the Turing language. I've had experience
with Basic as well. My first individual project took place in grade eight. I
produced a fifteen minute animation complete with sound effects, all created
on a computer and recorded onto VHS format. This project required a month to
complete because the film had to be edited and the right effects had to be
supplied from many BBSes. I gained a lot of experience and the years that
followed were occupied by many other similar projects. I do video titling and
other graphics for school events that are captured onto video tape. Many ask
for my assistance when doing such projects. BBSing is another activity I do
almost everyday because I wish to be a contributor to the computer community.
I find it exciting to use a computer as a creative tool because only my
imagination is the limit.
