For people who don't know Freddy Pharkas (where have you been the last few centuries?), here's a little description: Freddy Pharkas lives in the old west. Already at the age of 4, his dad know he was the best little crackshot, the west had ever seen. But later, when he was a lawman a villian called Henny the Kid, shot Freddy's ear off, in a gunfight, to prove who was the best. Then Freddy gave up gunnery. Then he decided to become a pharmacist. When he got his Ph.d., and graduated, he moved out to coarsegold, and bought a pharmacy. He is a real prescription writer, and the townspeople don't know he's an ex-gunfighter. Freddy also fell in love with Coarsegold schoolmarm, the sweet Penelope. And at the beginning of the game, Freddy is earless, pearless, and free. Thanks to the humor from Al Lowe, and Sierra On-Line, this is yet another great game from Sierra.
When you see some town-people, talk to them, and sometimes for funny
messages, touch them with the HAND.
Sometimes when you try to talk to nothing, you can hear a doctor say( with a bad accent): And juzt houw long have you had ze problem to talk with an inanimated object?
Sometimes, you can see a dustball moving through Coarsegold. This
dustball also appears in Space Quest 5 on Klorox II
When you have won from the snails, you can see them walking literally
to their doom, like Lemmings(the game) do.
After you have rescued Serini, you can see an owl, with the description
of Cedric(an owl, who helps King Graham in KQ5). When you walk their
twice, you can see Cedric being eaten by buzards
Al Lowe's has put his most loved(but not by his dates) character
(Larry) great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather
in Freddy Pharkas. You can see him sometimes on the toilet, and
he appears at the shootout, with ACE.
When you must shoot ACE, try to his other things, eventually, you'll
hit another target. Don't worry, the game will rewind, before
your mistake.
At the 'oreshop , you can see a sheep. TALK with her, and TOUCH her, and
you learn that Freddy can talk sheepish very good.
Just outside the 'orehouse, you can see the banner from the closed hotel.
Look at it, and you see a close up. Try to touch it, and the narrator will
say that you must be thinking of plastic man, frontier pharmacist, another
Al Lowe game.(Thanks to Domen Novak for sending in this joke)
At the end, when Freddy does his Zorro act, with his horse, you can see
that he's doing it, high on the Sierra mountains(he's on the logo). You
can also hear the sierra logo theme, and when you hear the sound, when
the two stars blink on the logo, you can see two of those stars at Freddy.
At the beginning, you can see some horses at the bridge. Later, they'll
be replaced with sheeps. In act IV, they'll be replaced with... er...
part sheep, and part horse.
When you click the shovel on the loose boards, to the left at the entrance
of Freddies pharmacy, a monster will appear. (This joke was send by its creator
William R. Shockley)
You can see the credits at Act 1. Use the hand and eye cursor on them for
some funny responses from the narrator
You can sometimes see a sheep with a couple of other sheeps perform at the
bar.
Some of the songs Neville will play are surely spoofs on real songs. Here
is an unfinished list of them.
If you wait a while at the credits, you can see some bloopers, which happened whilst creating the game. Like Penelope, who doesn't understand her speech, where Penelope "accidentaly" hits Freddy at sword-fighting, how Srini is saying one of his lines, with a very bad accent, and then walks on the ants, and when Freddy stunt-double is missing. Also, at the end is noted that there were 23 animals hurt whilst creating the game. Well, the game had to be as realistic as could be!
