Mission 3

Introduction | Task | Resources | Process | Evaluation | Conclusion

Search engines are a great way to find fun and safe educational web sites. Here is a list of, almost, every single search engine available to surfers.

Your mission is to surf four search engines, two for adults and two for children. The table below was created using a portion of the Clark County School District Curriculum Essentials Framework for third grade, social studies. Choose two or three strands from the table below and search for web sites that would be appropriate to use when teaching these subjects. Use your roles and rubric to evaluate and find great sites. Bookmark your favorite web sites by clicking on the bookmark button at the button bar and choosing Add Bookmark.

You will need to take notes on the sites you find and evaluate. To do this electronically and simultaneously while you are searching the internet use a notepad program or a word processor. To get to your notepad, click on the start button, go to programs, click on accessories, and choose notepad. You can now toggle between the internet and the notepad by clicking between the two. This is a good way to use the computer as a tool. Save the information you type in the notepad to your floppy disc. You can then take this with you to use in your classroom.
