PARSONS APPLE USERS GROUP


CONSTITUTION & BY-LAWS



ARTICLE I


NAME


The name of the organization shall be the PARSONS APPLE USERS

GROUP (P.A.U.G.).



ARTICLE II


PURPOSE


This organization, consisting of people interested in the use of computers (and allied fields) will have for it's purpose:


1 Gathering, studying and sharing information about computers.


2 Increasing knowledge and efficiency in the use of computers.


3 Promote camaraderie among persons interested in computers and allied fields.


4 These purposes shall be achieved through meetings and the publication of a newsletter, or a postcard with meeting information.


5 The original of any documents produced by P.A.U.G. shall be created on an Apple Computer brand CPU.


6 Parsons Apple Users Group strongly discourages and will not participate in software piracy, or the illegal copying of copyrighted commercial software (and even shareware).




ARTICLE III


MEMBERSHIP


1 Family membership is open to all wishing to join the organization. The annual dues shall be $16.00.


1.1 Student membership is open to all full-time students, K-12 and Post Secondary, at one half the family membership price.


2 The fiscal year of this organization shall be from January 1 to December 31, and the membership year shall be congruent to the fiscal year.


3 This organization does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or handicapped.



ARTICLE IV


BOARD MEMBERSHIP


1 The Board of Directors of this organization shall consist of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, librarian, and special committee coordinator.


2 The Board of Directors shall be elected by the membership annually.


3 Each Board Member is responsible to keep the records and club equipment or supplies of his/her office.


4 President. It shall be the duty of the President to:

4.1 Preside at the club meetings.


4.2 The President is a member of each special or standing committee.


4.3 Appoint pro-tempore officers to fill any vacancies caused by the inability of elected officers to complete terms in office.


4.4 Assume leadership in coordinating activities.


4.5 Surrender to his/her successor all records and club materials belonging to the club upon expiration of the term of office.


5 Vice-President. It shall be the duty of the Vice-President to:


5.1 Coordinate and plan monthly and special meetings.


5.2 In the absence of the President, the Vice-President shall preside.


5.3 Assume the duties of the President in the event the President is unable to complete his/her term until a new President is appointed.


5.4 Surrender to his/her successor all records and club materials belonging to the club upon expiration of the term of office.


6 Secretary. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to:


6.1 Keep the minutes of each meeting.


6.2 Keep an attendance record.


6.3 Keep an accurate list of names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the members.


6.4 Keep a portfolio of news articles, club newsletters, and other news or pictorial items.


6.5 Surrender to his/her successor all records and club materials belonging to the club upon expiration of the term of office.


7 Treasurer. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to:


7.1 Maintain an accurate and current record of all income and expenditures pertaining to the club.


7.2 Pay bills approved by the board.


7.3 Surrender to his/her successor all records and club materials belonging to the club upon expiration of the term of office.


8 Librarian. It shall be the duty of the Librarian to:


8.1 Organize and maintain the software library.


8.2 Organize and maintain magazines and other printed materials received by the club.


8.3 Surrender to his/her successor all records and club materials belonging to the club upon expiration of the term of office.


9 Special Committee Coordinator. It shall be the duty of the Special Committee Coordinator to:


9.1 Coordinate and direct Standing and Special committees and their chairpersons representing various important interests in the field of computers, and of the membership as is necessary to accomplish the goals of this organization.


9.2 Keep a database.


9.3 Surrender to his/her successor all records and club materials belonging to the club upon expiration of the term of office.



ARTICLE V


MEETINGS


1 Officers may hold as many executive meetings as necessary.


2 Robert's Rules of Order shall prevail at all business meetings of this organization.



ARTICLE VI


QUORUM


A quorum for voting purposes shall consist of at least twenty percent (20%) of the current paid members including four (4) board members.



ARTICLE VII


AMENDMENTS


This constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the members present at any business meeting. Prior to such a meeting, the proposed amendment or revision will be published in one (1) newsletter prior to voting.
