Pete's Radio
Bench
This Peter's
Radio Bench, next to the BBS equipment, where he fixes his
radio junk!
The upturned
chassis is an old Hallicrafters SX101 communications receiver
under restoration. Other equipment visible in the picture (from
left to right) is a Rola Professional 77 tape recorder, a Cossor
1035 Mk II Osciloscope, an Astor VM85 monitor, a Yaesu Musen FRG7000
communications receiver, a Leson TW233 microphone, a model 110
SWR meter, an STC A670 communications receiver behind chassis (AMR300), a Pearce Simpson "Bengal"
SSB Transceiver, a prototype scanner (unbadged) from an asian
factory, a Kingsley AR7 communications receiver and an Aegis
extension speaker.
The SX
The SX-101 is a
MK1 and I'm still chasing a dial scale "S"meter and
lighting diffuser for it.
It seems that only
"really old" stuff is worth repairing these days, new
electronic items are designed to be disposable and made to fail
after a predetermined time has elapsed. A consequence of years of
computer aided design and documented MTBF statistics maybe?
Background midi
music is "Radioactivity" by Kraftwerk.
