Band History
Korn was formed in 1993 in Huntington Beach, California by basically the combination of two different bands, Sexart and L.A.P.D. James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch were visiting their hometown Bakersfield and they came apon Jonathan Davis who was the front man of band Sexart. Welch and Shaffer convinced Davis to sing for their band. Their band, L.A.P.D., also had two other instumentalist, David Silvera and Fieldy Snuts, and together they formed the band KoRn.
In 1994, KoRn released their first album, KoRn. The critics ignored the band while punkers and youths that could relate to the fierce and ferocious music, became more and more interested. After touring for almost 2 years with 311, Marilyn Manson, and Ozzy Ozbourne, the album finally went platinum. In '96 their second album Life Is Peachy was debuted. This cd showed a more musically mature KoRn with improved song structure. Radio stations rarely, if ever, played their first single, A.D.I.D.A.S., for lack of popularity and over-use of profanity.
KoRn's popularity quickly began to rise after their main-stage slot on Lollapalooza '97. In 1998 KoRn released Follow The Leader, by far their most popular cd, with singles such as, Got The Life and Freak On A Leash, has already went platinum. With KoRn's amazing song style and rough lyrics their popularity can only go up and will, again, be topping the charts in the future.
