Readers's Feedback

I am taking this oppurtunity to thank all those who could manage to take out some time from their valuable and hectic schedule and send me their feedback regarding my tutorial on JavaScript at http://www.oocities.org/SiliconValley/Park/3091/main.htm and my Java Applications at http://www.oocities.org/SiliconValley/Park/3091/javaprograms.htm.

Following are the various invaluable letters received by me via e-mail :

Subject: Thanks for the great page Date: Thu, 10 Oct 1996 19:46:09 -0400 From: L_J To: vanand@pcl.stpn.soft.net Iam happy to see that the net is still alive and well. I have searched hundreds of pages trying to find some good solid information on java scripting. Most of them were just a teaser for a book, and most gave no good info. I just wanted to thank you for helping me to learn (or at least trying to learn java scripting.) Zan-Hawk

Subject:Great work Date: Wed, 09 Oct 1996 10:51:45 -0300 From: Brian Lewis Reply-To:infoeng@trinidad.net.pcl.stpn.soft.net Organization:Information Engineering Services To:vanand@pcl.stpn.soft.net Your Javascript tutorial really helped me to get down to working with the thing. Great layout, examples flowed smoothly. Check out my site in a few days to see some Javascript in action (http://www.trinibase.com). BTW, do you know of any parsers off hand for e-mail. Also, is there software that encrypts your HTML so others cannot steal your files and possibly data on the file? take care, brian lewis -- infoeng@trinidad.net http://www.trinibase.com - Trinbago's premier web site! Subject: JS page Date: Sun, 08 Dec 96 22:34:06 EST From: "Alexandre F. Otuki" To: vanand@pcl.stpn.soft.net You asked for input about your JavaScript home-page... ..wonderful! Some "postscripts": I am a Geocities user as well. Do people complain to you that they can't get into your page when they want to? It's often "busy"... :( Went to your page after seeing a link for it in www.gamelan.com (it's a sign your home-page is now "important"!) :) I really liked that part when you say how frustrating can the rapid development of technology be. I did realize that some time ago, after buying an expensive and thick book about Windows 3.1 programming, reading a couple of pages and then realizing it wasalready "out", as Windows 95 was almost being released. A Pascal teacher at that time told me that computing was different from all the other stuff: it isn't that important to know a little bit of everything but if you are really familiar with something, you're going to have success, even if you are, say a DOS programmer (hmm...)... :) Today, in the middle of all this Internet hype, this problem is a hundred times worse... well, even though I'm taking a look at Java Script, as you might have noticed. :) Well, thanks for the page, My best regards, Alexandre F. Subject:Link colors Date: Wed, 13 Nov 1996 10:23:08 -0500 From: Tom Aman To:vanand@pcl.stpn.soft.net U have written Great pages - they will now become my standard quick reference for JavaScript. However - your link color for your home page (link="#008ffc") makes the links unreadable on a 256 color display - suggest you pick a different color to give more contrast (I've hit the same problem on pages I've done from my other computer with 32K colors - looked great until I checked them on a 256 color display. Now, as standard procedure, after I do a set of pages I reset my display to 256 colors and recheck them - its worth the bit of time to be sure everyone can read them. (The problem happens to a lot of people - I am running NT 4.0 at work on a 17" monitor - problem is that to run the resolution I want - 1024 x 768 - I have to settle for 256 colors as there is no driver available yet for my video card that will give me the higher number of colors at this resolution) Tom Aman
