I would to announce one important thing, there is a big problem in the RPG editor world, THEY ALL SUCK! Zzt was cool, when it came out, but now the software world has changed so much, it's an peice of trash! SuperZzt came out, and it was alittle more advanced, but it still didn't meet the needs of us gamers. Then SV came out with what I here is a great program, MEGAZEUX. The problem with MZX is you have to be a DOS wizard to get it to work!! And I only have one thing to say about VERGE, What the Hell? It makes no sense. Besides Z2 there are none others that I know, and I can't get Z2 anywhere. There seems to be alot more in production, but why make 'em if no one can make one that works good?

Okay, counter-rant time. Those of us who are working on other editors usually have something better to do, so we work on it when we get the chance. Now, what incentive do we have? Just the warm fuzzy feeling, and a few registrations from people who want to show thier support. Thats what I registered Megazeux, just because I wanted to say, "Hey, man, I appreciate all that work you did." Now, some of us won't even get that much. The reason more editors aren't out? Right now, the Megazeux community needs to learn some manners. Since all you guys want games for free, then so be it, I'm a nice guy. But if I'm working on stuff that makes money don't be surprised that it'll come before.

(Please note that I will most likely offend quite a few people with this rant,but it has gotten to the point where I don't really give a damn anymore.For the sake of me not having to recieve 10 emails a day, I will not give out my name, nick, or the like.)

  The MegaZeux community is dead. Most of the people we once saw as colleagues, friends, and co-workers have become our most hated enemies. Most of those who have attained a rather high status in the MegaZeux community have gone away and made their own channels, away from #megazeux, or as many of themcall it, "The Cesspool", and the many people that were once friends have become bitter, clan-like groups of people. Why has this happened? Many factors contribute to this.

  One of the factors is that about 75% of the ops on #megazeux don't do their jobs right. The job of an op, as I see it, is to make sure no fights in the channel erupt, and to get rid of those who break the rules of the channel. (Hence the name "Op", short for "Operator", for all those who aren't IRC literate.)

  Instead of doing this, they ban all who do not think and act like they do. "What? Someone likes Microsoft? Ban 'em." "What? Someone uses a mac? Ban 'em." "What? Someone is in to hentai? Ban 'em." "What? Someone thinks differentlyfrom us? Ban 'em.".

  What someone does, uses, or is in to should have absolutely no impact on the way a person is treated. Banning someone because they think differently than someone else is almost the equivalent of prejudice. But, since majiCk lets his ops ban for no reason and can only unban for a reason, the ops on #megazeux have run amok, banning all those who they see as "inferior". If peoplewere all the same, this would be a very dull place to be in. (I'll bet a few of the ops are thinking that what I'm writing is complete bulls*it right now)

  Not only do ops have this problem, but many of the regulars of#megazeux do. Don't get me wrong, there are a few people that just about anyone can get along with, but these people are far and few between. It seems like somepeople have never heard of the /ignore in their lives.

  So, I give to all who read this a challenge. Everyone, op or non-op, newbie or oldbie, Linux user or Microsoft supporter, embrace each othersdifferences. Let people be themselves. Maybe if we all followed this rule, the MegaZeuxcommunity would be a better place to be in.

I know that I am going to get a lot of crap about this Rant. Or at least I hope I am, but that is the whole reason I am doing it. This is something Ifeel will be the downfall of ZZT and Megazeux. They are immortal, but you may kill them. You see, there is no tolerance in our little community. Zoo of Zero Tolerance is supposedly what ZZT stands for, but it also seems to describe the entire 'scene'.

You see, I'm not talking about racial tolerance, though it is a related issue. I'm talking about the simple things which, after hearing them as long asI have, get to really be destructive to the entire ideal that is ZZT and Megazeux. The PSXers hate the N64ers, the MIRCers hate the PIRCHers, theISPers hate the AOLers, the Squaresofters hate everyone, the wannabies hate the newbies, the oldbies hate the newbies and wannabies, the FCMershate the Darknessers, the Linux geeks hate the Win95 geeks, the PCers hate Maccers, the list goes on. Sure, you say you're just expressing your opinion, right? You have that right, don't you? No. Once it starts becomingdestructive to all that is our ideal you DON'T have that right. Your freedom ends where mine begins.

Just because someone uses a Mac, does that make them evil? No. What if they don't need that power? What if they want ease of use? If there is a brilliant writer, is the writer less brillant because they use a Mac? No. If they aren't technically minded, then why must they use a more challenging OS?Likewise, I only chat with XiRCON. I got tired of switching around because so-and-so says the string event handling on this is better, or you can have1000+ scripts with this one. Who cares? All I use IRC for is to chat with my 'friends' on #megazeux. I don't NEED that. Its all excess.

Okay, you say you're just trying to enlighten me, to show me the way. What makes you so much holier than I? It is that kind of Holier than Thou attitudethat makes me the most mad. I can find my own way, thank you very much. Did I ASK for your help? I don't need YOU to tell ME what to do. You maysay what you like, but that by no means requires me to listen.

In a real life example, I do not believe homosexuality is wrong. I don't understand why people may think that. Its gross. So? So is cheese, but that doesn'tmean its evil. It makes me feel uncomfortable. So? Whenever something someone does makes you uncomfortable, it doesn't mean YOU have to do it. The Bible says it is wrong. So? The Bible also says many other things are wrong that we seem to conveniently forget. This doesn't mean _I_ am gay.If you send any mail saying that I am, you are only proving that you are indeed intolerant and ignorant.

My point is, if you have a little bit more tolerance for people who aren't like you, you may live a bit happier. You'll be less bitter. Living with hate is not how you want to live.
