Kinda jealous cause most people don't take trivia all that seriously here. Tried to get Manager from R..J's to have a contest or something. We only have about 6 boards and they don't work 1/2 the time. Also, at least 3 of them are on the same frequency, so it makes playing really hard! We asked the Manager to change the frequency's for us, but he says he doesn't know how. Anyone out there know how to get a reluctant Manager to be a little more "trivia friendly"? I personally spend about $150 a month in there and I know others who spend at least $50-$100. Any ideas??? thanx. |

I liked all your fun comments about the game, particularly the bold caveat "Leave your ego at home". God knows there are players here in Toronto who could take that little piece of advice to heart. I sent an E mail recently to your pal Lasher re his site and his encounter with DaveTV at The Peel Pub. Interesting piece! I've my share of encounters with Dave - not all of them unpleasant, but he can get a little, ah, tiresome in a big hurry. I've only been to The Peel Pub a couple of times (about 2 years ago at Christ- mas) and I really enjoyed it - nice atmosphere, cheap beer, and a lot of good NTN players. I assume you know that there is now a Peel Pub here in Toronto. I dropped in last week: didn't like it much - very young crowd, very noisy and no where nearly approximates the "real" Peel Pub in Mtl. I have surfed in once before, but not signed the book. Here to make amends. A lovely site and thanks for putting it up. We have a "most annoying NTN player ever," too. Plays as Jim S. or Dragon. He cruises locations, of which there are not many out here and is a classic sandbagger, listening in an exploiting shared answers, but never offering help when he knows the answer. Actually, he is not likely to return since since the mini-mohawked, multiply-tattoed and very colorful Ric hit him with a bike chain. (Its kind of a rough place, but filled with good decent folk, possessed of the requisite sense of fair play). Our proudest moment: well that would be tonight, when we ranked 8 on the "O, Canada" Topix round, right after 6 Canadian bars with perfect scores - we were 14,5+ (woohoo) and way ahead of such notable neighbors to the north as some joint in Yellowknife and multiple Ottawans and Vancouver(ites?)(ians?). Great quotes from tonight's game: "Banff... sweet Jesus... it's Banff!" and "It's going to be 'Nunavut,' no really, I just read about this...somewhere." And, of course, at the conclusion of the game, "How about a round of Yukon Jack, Anheuser-Busch's finest faux-Canadian liqueur, for everyone." Most anticipated, yet unrealized answer of the night: what PM was arrested as a suspected terroist in 1948 (or so). Love the page. Cheers! - Tim. |

You guys must take your trivia serious in Canada. I play on Tuesdays and Fridays at "The Page", a little neighborhood bar in Thornton, CO, about 10 miles north of Denver. I've encountered just about every situation you came up with but the WORST I hate is when I walk in the door and half the players shut off their boxes or say, "Oh no, Barney's here, game over". Not bragging, just what happens. But I really like the people I play with, NEZ (a friendly Canadian and Hockey God), WHEELS, KELLY, RICH et al.
