August 4, 1998: Wow, it's been a long
time since I updated! :) Sorry, but I've been pretty busy lately. I don't get
to go on the WWW much anymore, and when I do, I usually update my other
sites. Well, let me start by saying Bret Michaels was on page 14 in
yesterday's (August 3, 1998) New York Post, in Liz Smith's column. Seems his
120 minute x-rated home video with Pamela Anderson surfaced on some WWW site,
after he got a federal injunction to stop it from being shown on some other
site. Ouch! In happier Bret news in the very same column, Smith writes lots
of kind words about his movie career. Great, but what about Poison's next
album? Smith makes no mention of it, and no wonder, since C.C. Deville has
recently said he may look for another band. Seems like Rikki Rockett is the
only one who really cares about Poison these days. All we can do is cross our
fingers and hope for the best. If Poison breaks up, the top two rock bands
from the late 80's will be gone. The other being Guns N' Roses, which is a
lost cause because the only original member left is Axl Rose, and the chances
of a fully reunited GNR album and tour happening are about the same as Ratt
or Warrant going multi-platinum again. Oh well, we can always dream...
September 5, 1997: Ultra-glam rockers
"Pretty Boy Floyd" are working on a new album! Vinnie Chas describes
themselves as "still typical Pretty Boy Floyd, still pop rock - no grunge for
us - but a little more grown up." The look will be "not so glammy-been there,
done that. No hairspray and lipstick, but cool." They're getting label offers
from overseas and plan to start playing shows soon. Fans can write to them at
P.O. Box 2426, Hollywood, CA 90078, USA. Can't wait, but I hope they don't
shed their glam image too much.
August 9, 1997: I just purchased
Cinderella's greatest hits (in K-Mart of all places), which is called "Once
Upon A..." It's fantastic, but there is a serious problem. My local music
store never even heard of it, saying it wasn't on any new listings this year.
Same thing for "Collage" from Ratt. This goes back to last November, when
Poison's greatest hits was released. While all the major stores carried it,
not one that I went to had it in the new section. It was burried in the
Poison section, yet Simply Red's greatest hits were right in the new section!
What gives? Poison was way more popular than Simply Red! I'm convinced it's a
conspiracy. Not only do we have to deal with MTV not playing the videos and
major so-called "rock" stations not playing the songs, but now stores either
don't get it in because they don't know about it, or if they do it doesn't go
in with the new stuff. The only solution is to do what I do, which is ask the
stores to order it if they don't have it, and if they do have it and it's not
with the new releases, grab all you can find and put them in with the new
stuff! Don't feel bad about doing this, it's the higher-ups in charge who are
the evil ones. Just keep in mind that it won't sell if no one (except for the
die-hard fans who keep track) knows that it's out!
July 22, 1997: Motley Crue was on The
Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Friday (July 18). They preformed "Afraid" and
were interviewed by Jay for a couple of minutes. They said the tour starts
shortly (the US tour starts in October) and will last about a year and a
half. Can't wait!
July 6, 1997: Woo hoo! Motley Crue's
"Generation Swine" debuted at #4 on Billboard 200! Sound too good to be true?
Then go to the Billboard
200 official site and see for yourself. We're going all the way to #1
baby! By the way, don't forget to call your local radio station and MTV and
request that they play Afraid.
July 1, 1997: Ratt has a new album
coming July 22! It'll be called "Collage" and it'll supposidly sound just
like their old stuff. Great, because I can't wait to Ratt and Roll again!
June 29, 1997: I got Motley Crue's
"Generation Swine" on "Day of the Pig" (June 24), and I feel it's pretty
good. While some say they are now grunge, I don't see how anyone can say
this. They still look like a semi-glam band, and while the tunes are not as
rockin' as they may have once been, grunge it isn't. Speaking of the Crue, I
saw them on David Letterman on June 24. They preformed right outside the
studio for all to see! The first song they sang was "Afraid", while the next
one was an oldie: "Dr. Feelgood." Too bad TV viewers didn't get to hear all
of the latter, because the show ended before it was over. Oh well. All I know
is they kicked ass! June 22, 1997: Bret Michaels, lead
singer of Poison, will be appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on
August 13. His new movie, "A Letter From Death Row", should come out on
October 31. The soundtrack, also done by Bret, should go on sale September 9.
June 21, 1997: Motley Crue will be on
Late Night With David Letterman Tuesday, June 24! It's also the same day that
their new album, "Generation Swine", is released in the US. It should go
fast, so get your copy early!
