November 1997's Featured Freeware
Well, it's been a while since this page has been updated, but I hope this will make it worth the wait.
Virtual Desktop
I've been looking a virtual desktop manager for a long time, and I haven't found one that's this good. Why is it so good? Well, first it takes up virtually no desktop or taskbar space like other virtual desktop managers. It's very configurable, and you can have up to sixty-four virtual desktops, though nine is more realistic and more than enough IMHO. It has a smaller footprint than comparable programs, and acts a lot like X - you can switch desktops by moving the cursor off screen or by clicking on a box on the grid. It's also a lot easier to manage applications - you can drag windows from desktop to desktop right on the grid! You have to try it. It's just much better than using the Windows 95 or NT task manager.
Files
Virtual Desktop is part of Virtual Environment, but can be downloaded separately as a freeware program.
