A Poem For A Friend

By: One Lonely Heart

It started out with a simple "hello"
You always seemed like such a decent fellow
Always caring, always polite
Like a very chilvourous knight
You always knew how to make me laugh
You don’t even know the half
It was so strange to finally find
Someone with the same state of mind
I was too afraid to really say
How or why I felt this way
But I finally said what I needed to say
I really can’t remember the day
I was relieved to hear that you liked me too
But then a little while later I was through
I had been thrown off track
And when I came back
You were gone
Now it’s been so very long
Since I last saw you
You never come when I call
You’re not there to catch me when I fall
My heart is breaking
My muscles are aching
My mind is pounding
And I find it astounding
How I can live without you this long
And with every single gong
Of that rusted old clock
I grow weaker
I grow meeker
Waiting for you
To come back to me
