     Hex's world lite is brought to you today by the cup of tea I'm currently drinking. Half the calories, but twice the angst all in a regular sized package.

     Nothing much has been really changing around here. With a few exceptions.

* The Good news.

     I got lucky and finally scored the Beast Wars card game, Beast Wars Powerpinch, and two of the 4 Total Justice figures I wanted. (Black Lightning and Green Arrow)

* School update.

     Parking has improved a tad (mainly because of people dropping classes I suspect.) I took my Ancient History mid-term yesterday (10/29); It was ugly, but I think I trudged through it intact. (a B would be a 'dance of joy' moment -- and gee it's only 50% of my grade)

* Hex's chassis falls apart...

     A couple of weeks ago my right knee started hurting -- a lot, and my left has been doing poorly too. (I suspect that it may be related to me favoring my right leg) I've been keeping it in an 'Ace' wrap until I get my carcass in gear to see the doctor.

     I guess I'll be in line if they start offering cybertronian bodies. Hell, I'd settle for a Masterforce-class power suit.

* Computer stuff...

     I'm thinking about setting up a third machine for the purpose of running Linux. While I'd at least get to avoid another Bill-based machine. I know nothing about how Linux works. Thoughts? resources?

     I also found in my father's bedroom a flatbed scanner. It's a bit dated, but should work just fine for my needs. If only I can keep the cat off of it.

* The Hex's world project continues...

     The page is looking pretty satisfactory to me -- with the exception of the missing pages that I need to complete. The Beast Wars tech-spec listings are up to date with the exception of Shadowpanther and Onyx Primal. I'm also currently working on separating out Generation 1 and 2 Transformers from each other. If only because the enormous spec. listing was just too unwieldy to edit properly.

* Work gets WEirD!!!

     As if you hadn;t realized, I have grown to really loathe work. I mean a lot. The latest blow towards my dissatisfaction was when my boss in a fit of 'even-handed justice' wiped out the hard drive of the computer I use. The casualties involve a boatload of driver software, lots of personal files I didn't stash onto disk, and my web page (which I was smart enough to copy repeatedly -- but early high-quality scans were blown away.) The summary of my attitude was simply: screw this place!

     Now, yesterday my boss pulls me into his office and says to me, "You've got a lot of talent and we want you to be happy to come to work. What do you want to do that will make you happy? "

" Well, this is an unexpected twist of events... " --Sam

     On top of this, I had been pondering going part time at the hospital to pay my way through school -- sacrificing my benefits -- that aren't going to be quite right until the beginning of the year anyway. (that's my fault really) Even with these two options, the decision isn't too terrible hard, I'd possibly work full time for the winter quarter and then try to become part time in the spring. That way I can get my benefits fixed and possibly get all that nasty dental stuff dealt with.

" Fascinating. What is that? Some kind of tricorder? " --repairman
" Actually, we're deep in the 4th. quarter. " -- Max

     Ironically, my friend calls me up and says, " Do you know anyone willing to answer phones for my dancing company? " At the time, I was still semi-upset and said I might consider it myself since all I have to do is stay home and act as an answering service. The downside is, it's a cut in pay (like just a hair above min. wage, down from the $11/hr.) I make now. Of course, there is that mild moral issue that I will have to cater to the various purveys of the city. In a capitalist sense, this would be great. There's always somebody powered by hormones in a city, I'm saving time and sanity by not having to commute like most folks, and can work on various projects that need to be done around the house anyway. And the money is enough for me to scrape by on my bills and can use the surplus cash I have to help me out when school or whatever taps me out.

     To compound matters I have to make a decision very soon. I suppose any of the options are viable, and can get me where I want to go, but which is the best answer? I'm (kind of) leaning towards leaving, but that means to leave the security of my current (yet irritating) workplace.

     Ah well, I think I'll sign up for classes on Friday; I want to take that occult class I saw in the book somewhere. That and Metaphysics sound like (what I hope are) fun classes. And (if I pass ancient history 101) ancient history 102. Damn these liberal arts classes.

" Civilization crash. Please reboot. " -- found in my ancient history notes.
