Three days after we moved to the city our dog, Halley, got out.
I was sure she wasn't coming back as she had never left us before. I worried that she would not "remember" were we lived now. Our family was heartbroken. We searched every where for Halley.
My 4 year old daughter was so attached to Halley that she cried every day. She would stand out in the yard and call Halley's name, hoping the dog would come home.
Yesterday afternoon, at the Sonic Drive-In, we ate
dinner in the car. Our 4 year daughter announced that she
wanted to say the prayer. Her prayer went like this:
*GOD IS GREAT, GOD IS GOOD,
LET US THANK HIM FOR THIS FOOD ~
AND THANK YOU FOR BRINGING HALLEY HOME. AMEN.*
My husband and I looked at each other and said, "Well, maybe she will come back." From the back seat, with her eyes open wide and with much excitement, my daughter said, "Uh Huh. Her IS coming home!!! Might be there when we get home!!!"
When we got home, my daughter ran to the back yard screaming, "Halley! Halley!" But Halley was not there. I followed her because I thought that she would start crying when she didn't find her there.
However, she did not start crying when she realized Halley was not back yet. Instead she looked at me and said, "Not yet! Her coming though ~ I know!" And she rushed off to play with her older brother.
This morning my daughter rushed out of bed, flew past me, opened the back door and ran out yelling, "HALLEY! GOOD GIRL, HALLEY!"
Half asleep, I opened the curtain on the door to rescue my little girl's broken heart when she didn't find Halley and I saw......... My little girl with her arms around Halley's neck, hugging her and talking to her with her face beaming and full of smiles!!!
HALLEY DID COME HOME!!!!
I will never forget this!!! It reminds me to have the
faith of a little child!
Faith that is so strong it can move mountains!!!
Today, I give thanks to God for bringing Halley home and
for reminding me that all things are possible with God!
