Fat16 vs Fat32
These results were obtained on the following system.
P225MMX, AsusTX97-X, 48MB Ram, Single Deskstar5 6.4 H/D on Primary Master, Samsung 24x on Secondary Master. Win95 OSR2. Using standard MS driver 4.00.0011, DMA enabled. Threadmark V2.0 was used in all tests.
All tests were run on E Drive, a 705MB partition; position starting at 48% from outer edge, using 12% of total h/d capacity. E Drive was freshly formatted before each test run.
I know that tests on a 2GB partition would provide more relevant data regarding the FAT16 vs FAT32 speed controversy, but I only thought of this after running the above tests and I'm off overseas for a few weeks so don't expect any more results until after the new year.
Looks like FAT32 isn't so shabby on smaller partitions anyway!
