Back to main page
I have subscribed to Goldmine for years, and have for the most part always kept my old
copies in boxes in the basement. I have lost a few issues, so if you could fill
in the gaps, or offer any corrections/additions for the MISSING
issues, I would appreciate it if you would email me.
How did this index come to be? One day I was digging around on the net and
found a guy named Andrew had started it and done most of his collection (he
was also a subscriber). If it matters, I was missing the issue with part 2
of the Replacements article (Brats in Babylon, issue 347), and somehow my
search turned up Andrew's page.
I guess I was inspired, because later when I was bored one night, I decided
to get all the boxes with my back issues out and update his work. I then
emailed Andrew and shared the updated list, and for my trouble he sent me a copy
of the 'Mats article I needed (Thanks Andrew!). I have tried since to
keep it up to date, and have been pretty successful...
Why do I keep doing it, and why don't I just throw the issues away (my
wife asks this every month!)? Well, Goldmine covers such a
wide range of music, that I don't always care to read it all when I get my new
issue; But I find that I often discover a group years later, and it's so
cool when I find I have a bunch of old articles buried in the basement on my
new discovery! Case(s) in point would be me finally getting into Sonic
Youth (Issues 185 & 369) late in the game, and then finding long, well
written articles in my possession. The same thing has happened to me for the
Meat Puppets (Issue 385) and Alex Chilton (Issue 313), some guy named
Elvis, as well as many, many others.
BTW - Goldmine does not sell back issues themselves, and from their faq, here is how you can get
back issues.
Most of my issues for sale or trade, if I still own them..., but
nothing with Zappa in it! email me for info.
On 1/8/02 I sold them all...! I will still be keeping them from that date
forward though... and still willing to sell.
