Introduction to bluetooth
Wires, wires, wires everywhere. Now you can connect everything without any wire starting form phones, PDAs, and all PC devices.
This is done by new technology called Bluetooth. It is a technology specification for low-cost, short range radio links between portable devices and any other devices that need to replace their wire connection.
The bluetooth radio operates in the unlicensed ISM band at 2.4GHz and use hopping to new frequency transmission scheme.
The buletooth is composed of several stacks starting from the RF and the physical layer in hardware up to embedded software for control and higher level applications. It is designed to support many already existing systems such as IrDA, LAN, voice, fax and many other applications.
For more information about the technology visit the links below.
Bluetooth cores and designs
The main aim of the Open Source bluetooth project is to develope a set of hardware cores and software stacks in order to be as an example for the bluetooth standard.
- Baseband core
- Radio Frequency (RF) Layer. (This part is not easy to design nor to implement in open source environment)
- LMP Layer. This layer is to be done by software, small hardware support may be done. (This layer will be implemented in the future)
Looking for..
- A bluetooth test suite to check my design against.
- A technology to implement the design on and verify it
- Some help with defining the interfaces between the cores and stacks.
