It's been nearly 15 years since I served on Seattle, but just seeing some of these names makes it feel like yesterday. FTM2 Dawes good to hear form you. I was one of the first TAS operators, always spilling coffee onto the OJ-194. And I was with you when you lost a tooth at Bobs Runway, remember that.

I REPORTED ON BOARD THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE SEATTLE WAS IN BROOKLYN FINISHING HER OVERHAUL. THE MK23 TAS RADAR WAS JUST INSTALLED ON THE SHIP (THE FIRST SHIP IN THE FLEET TO HAVE IT), AND THATS WHAT I WORKED ON. ITS LIKE ALOT OF THE OTHER GUYS SAID I DIDN'T REALLY ENJOY BEING ON SEATTLE BUT I MISSED IT AFTER I LEFT ESPECIALLY SOME OF THE FREINDS I LEFT BEHIND. CONRAD, MASTER CHEIF PITTINGER, PETE SPIRO IF YOU EVER SEE THIS PAGE MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW THINGS ARE GOING.

Nice to find your page. Seattle was a great ship. It seemed we served on her about the same period. I may have taken the flight to ROTA with you in '79 as I was returning from a medical leave and got to miss all that fun in-chop stuff. We probably didn't eet tho because as you know snipes and deck apes did not associate to much. Keep me in mind for the reunion page!!

Outstanding work Bill. When I reported aboard Seattle I was just a few months 17. So the way I usually look at is that I grew up aboard her. In the three years I served onboard we may have been in Norfolk a combined total of 8 months. Like one of the ther shipmates said, we were always standing in for the Detroit, so that made us "haze gray and underway". My path has been a peculiar one. I am currently a Signal Corps Captain in the Army Reserve (Innactive). But I will tell you this...not too many d ys go by and I haven't thought or dreamed about being aboard Seattle. One doesn't forget where you grow from child to man. Fair winds and following seas.

I served aboard the SEATTLE, and am a plank owner. I started out in B Division and later transfered to A Gang, working the evaporators and running a small "still" (Chief Hill never could find it) even though it was right under his nose. Does anybody know o remember LTC. Jeske (ENG. OFF.)?
