Introduction:
Devices covered with anti-TNT antibodies will manifest a change in some property in the presence of TNT.
The air surrounding an object/person is collected with a proprietary system, making it possible to collect a large amount of air in a short time.
The collected air is led through an Enrichment System. This increases the concentration of the substance to be detected. The substance is stored in a small volume of liquid then supplied to the Biosensor.
The Biosensor consists of an oscillating quartz crystal with antibodies attached to its surface. The antibodies are specifically designed for the detection of a defined substance. The quartz crystal, when oscillating, is extremely sensitive to conditional changes. The sensitivity is utilized by influencing the mass ratio of the crystal. The small volume of liquid produced by the Enrichment System is exposed to the Biosensor. If there are any substance molecules present, some of the antibodies release from the surface and bind themselves to the molecules. The release of antibodies causes the crystal mass to change, leading to a change in frequency.
The Signal Processing unit measures and analyzes the frequency. If a change in frequency occurs, The Signal Processing unit reacts, showing that the defined substance is present in the sample. A signal is then sent to the display.
The operator receives the signal on his display.
