He married twice. He married Sarah Hugg 9 Apr 1764. (Sarah Hugg is #79.) Sarah died 1784. Sarah became the mother of John Ellis before 1768. Sarah became the mother of Joseph Ellis 12 JAN 1768. Sarah became the mother of William Ellis 12 MAR 1771. Sarah became the mother of Stephen Ellis 27 FEB 1776. Sarah became the mother of Richard Ellis 1777. Sarah became the mother of Sara (Sally) Ellis 1783. He married Mary Lutteral 12 JUN 1787. (Mary Lutteral is #247.)

Joseph became the father of John Ellis before 1768. At 33 years of age Joseph became the father of Joseph Ellis 12 JAN 1768. At 36 years of age Joseph became the father of William Ellis 12 MAR 1771. At 41 years of age Joseph became the father of Stephen Ellis 27 FEB 1776. At 43 years of age Joseph became the father of Richard Ellis 1777. At 49 years of age Joseph became the father of Sara (Sally) Ellis 1783.

Joseph Ellis and Sarah Hugg had the following children:

10 vi. Richard Ellis (#252) was born 1777. Richard died 22 Aug 1742 in IN.

11 vii. Sara (Sally) Ellis (#250) was born 1783. She married Samuel Sellers 20 MAR 1799. (Samuel Sellers is #255.)
