As far as the what I do part, let me give the a little story that leads up to now.
I am currently 34 years old. I never bothered attending college until I was 29. When I was younger, you didn't need college. There were plenty of good jobs to be had without it. Well, times changed. The book warehouse company I was working with for five years decided to close their doors for good and put me out of work. They were kind enough to offer a serverance package which gave me some extra money. After screwing around at a couple of odds and ends jobs, I decided that I didn't like working in warehouses and such anymore. I wanted to go to work in what I had dreamed of since High School, computers!
So, I took my severance pay I had received and killed a couple of bills with it, went to my local Devry Institute of Technology campus, and signed up for their Computer Information Systems program. It was a good program with a lot of emphasis on programming. I also had acquired a knack for working on computer hardware, which is what I do now.
After completing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, I went to work for a very, very small consulting outfit near Chicago. That didn't pan out, so I began looking around again. That brought me to my current job. I work with a large consulting firm near Woodfield shopping mall in Schaumburg, IL. I won't name the company. At first, I worked in the QA department, which stands for Quality Assurance. In short, I was testing new code that was being written to look for defects. (That is something that Microsoft forgets to do every once in a while!) Anyway, after about 6 months, that division was being closed down. I was offered a choice of positions between consulting or the company's IS department. Well, since I had done consulting before, I chose the IS department. Like I said, I had developed a knack for working on computer hardware while I was in school.
That bring me to where I am now. I have been with this company for over a year now, and more than half of that in their IS department. It is a very good place to work with a lot of possibilities for the future. It has also given me the opportunity to learn some HTML. That is how this site and one other have come about. The other web site I have designed is a medical site. To visit it, click here.
The talk about HTML also brings me to the over all point of this page. With all my experiences in business, I have learned what companies, and people, are looking for on the web. I have worked a lot with web page design projects, from start to finish(and what page is every truly finished?). I have worked with management of companies on just about every level, learning what they do, how they do it, and how things are improved by using the web. And I have started marketing myself for web page design, both commercial and private. I know making a simple web page is easy, but there is a lot more to it than just looks. It has to be functional, eye catching, easy to follow and navigate through, etc, etc...
So, if you are looking for anyone to help you, or your company, in designing a web page, or series of pages, please visit the site I listed above, then e-mail me and we will talk. You can e-mail me here.
I sincerely hope to hear from you soon, and thanks for reading my story.
