A Little About Me

Okay, Okay. I finally got around to putting something about me up here on this web page.

As you probably already know, my name is Jayaprakash. My friends call me JP and my colleagues’ call me Prakash and every one at home call me Jayan. How do you say that in English you ask, well you say Jayan. Depending on what Indian language you translate from, Jayan can mean Victory and Prakash means Light. So I am light of victory. I was born May 5, 19XX in an aristocratic nair family, Nambath, at Cherai, Ernakulam dist. Kerala state, India. I lived in Kerala until 1981 .I have two elder sisters, two elder brothers and a younger sister. My mother's name is Padmakshy Amma and my father's name is Changaradil Narayana Menon. I lost my mother when I was 9 years old and my father in 1995. I am married to Bindu who belongs to Kodungallore, Trichur District that is the cultural capital of Kerala. She is BCom, presently a housewife and looking after my two kids. She sings very well and still learning music. She got a good collection of Indian music cassettes and CDs. My small family lives in a two-bedroom apartment in Salmiya, Kuwait.

I am a Taurean and my wife is a scorpion. Hmmm, what else can I tell you about myself? I have a few strange interests. I like listening to music. I like mostly Indian Classical and some of the older alternative bands. I love Punjabi Bhangra music although I have no idea what the hell they are saying. I like a good brew any day. I like breaking, err, I mean fixing things around the house too.

Let's see where should I start? As I said above, I was born in Kerala. I started my school in SSAUPS, Cherai  and I was in Sri Ramakrishna Advaitha Ashram, Kalady for my High School studies i.e. 1972-75. For My college studies, I was in SNM College from 1975-77 and Union Christian College, Alwaye, for my BSc from 1977-80. Physics was my main subject and mathematics and chemistry as subs. But nothing related to my present job. Moreover, no matter what people say, it is still good to stay and study in hostel. I still cannot forget my teachers in Kalady especially smty. Kamalakshmy amma, smty. Padmini, Sri Sambhu sar, and above all my beloved swami Purandaranandaji.

I came to Kuwait in 1981 where my father was working and I got a Job with one of the Local commercial banks as a Data control Clerk. I think that sparked my interest in computers, I learned my first programming language there, COBOL from one of the local Institute. Then after I learned myself Dbase, Foxpro, Access and started writing Programmes for my friends. In 1990 after the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait, only I started taking programming seriously. Now I have done MCSD in VB 6.0.

Now I am an Executive Manager,Head of Department, Financial Management Information Section.
