- The first Sherwood amplifier is
brought out on the market. It has the new "NOVAL" tubes
and immediately sets a standard for the competitors to follow.

- Their first tuner is brought out, a
unit that boasts unheard-of sensitivity at listenable signal/noise
ratios. This tuner was developed by Ed Miller.

- The first "stereo"-transmissions
taking place in the U.S. Monitoring tuners are supplied by the
Sherwood company.

- A Sherwood-equipped radio station in
Chigaco starts the first regular stereo-transmissions, coupled
with background music for super-markets and factory-halls.

and horizontally mounted tubes, for better heat control and a
lower silhouette.

and released by Sherwood - the SEL-200.

- The Sherwood Micro CPU 100 is the first
audio unit ever to utilize a micro-chip in its tuner section.

- The start of the cooperation with the
Dong Won Electronics corporation in Korea. This result in a complete
receiver line which is given much praise by specialists and critics.
All production is moved to Korea the same year.

- The S-7900A/8900A are the last Sherwood
receivers manufactured in the U.S.

- Sherwood joins forces with Dong Won
and its Korean parent company INKEL. A distribution office for
Europe is set up in Brussels, Belgium.

- The Sherwood brand has since developed
into the Car Audio and Home Cinema areas. Today, their Newcastle
brand of highly specialized Home Cinema receivers are manufactured
in UK. Their first Dolby Surround-receiver was brought out in
1992. The '97-model R-945 boasted both AC-3 and DTS. Sherwood
has continued its tradition of catering for multi-channel sound
reproduction, first introduced in their initial japanese-manufactured
line - in 1969.
