CURRENT PROJECTS
Four Days on Okennin Explanation: This is a story which takes place on a planet of my own imagination: Okennin. For years, the Malandai and Drenthi races have disputed over who posesses it, and a war constantly rages in its orbit. The plot in this story is about a crew of a small human warship. They have crash landed on Okennin, in a Drenthi-controlled area. As allies of the Malandai, the human crew (also with one Malandai) doesn't seem to stand much of a chance against the heavily armed Drenthi. Purpose: This is my most prized work, though it is not on my site. I plan to have it published once it is done. Death of the Zelbinion Explanation: This is a "fanfic", or fan fiction work, set about 100 years before John Crichton of Farscape began his epic journey through the galaxy. This is a story about a hate-filled Peacekeeper warship Captain named Durka who met his fate at the hands of the enigmatic Nebari race, and how his ship, the infamous Zelbinion, was finally destroyed. Purpose: I aim to paint Durka as a character whom you can pity at times and then turn around and hate him. I consider this project as practice in how I portray a certain range of story characters. The Flying Daggers Explanation: This story is also a fanfic. It is based on Interplay and Parallax Software's classic PC game, Descent. My name stars as the main character, and the names of fellow old-school Descentiles from Kali play other pilots. The story is supposed to explain the "Anarchy" mode of internet play. This story shares its name with one of the earliest groups of Descent players, called a "clan" or "squadron". The Flying Daggers called themselves a squadron, and I was one of them. My internet nickname at the time was Flyhi, and my status as a Flying Dagger was denoted by the {FlyD} prefix on my name. This was probably the most fun group of friends I have ever had the sincere honor of being a part of. One leader of the squadron, Marco "Motorman" Carag was my inspiration in writing several years ago. He has moved on to bigger and better things, but I still remember him well, and think of him as a sort of big brother in creativity. Purpose: This is my practice for visuals, for imagery. I try to get the images as vivid as possible here. This story isn't currently available, but may be soon. Hitchhikers Explanation: This is a story about the crew of a massive starship/space station vehicle in the mid 2300's. The Hitchhiker, just one of a small fleet of colony ships, leaves the Sol System toward Vega. The story begins on their arrival. The complication, though, is that Vega will go supernova soon, and they all must find a way of escaping the star system, if at all possible, before being incinerated. After their escape, they are doomed to wander the stars without sufficient fuel or correct trajectory to return directly home. Purpose: If I actually follow through with this project, I aim to create a story as expansive and wrought with travel as Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama series. |
