these may be FAQ:

Dammit! - this script doesn't work on my...
...Mac, Atari, Amiga, OS/2, Unix/Linux, Win3.1, DOS, Netscape/MSIE 2.x, not so common browser...
should I now throw it away?

Well - as a matter of principle... - YES!
;-)

-serious- ... Probably it will not work on Netscape or MS Internet Explorer of the 2.x generation because JavaScript was not well developed at this time. But It should work on both the 3.x versions for I turned my attention to not using 4.x functions. It will not work on Opera 3.x (these versions identify themselves as "Netscape 3.0" in JavaScript) but it does work well on Opera 4 (which returns "Netscape 4"). The loading in the background with MSIE works only from v4.0 up but this is handled automatically.
You can FREE download the latest Netscape browser at www.netscape.com, Opera at www.opera.com (probably the best browser but only free with banner).

I have tested it on NN3, NC4, Netscape6 (v5.0 preview release 2), Opera3, Opera4.02 and IE4 but not on other JavaScript capable browsers. If you are experiencing problems, mail to Marc II; let's see what I can learn :-]

-If you get a cryptic javascript error you can enter "javascript:" into the browser's URL line. This opens a script console, there you get a more verbose error description. Mail that text to me.

If you have everything alright but it still doesn't want to work - the most likely problem is that you have turned off JavaScript processing in the browser's options. Turn it on again.

Couldn't you write a more compact code?
- well... sure I can strip some spaces and compact lines, but I made it readable for myself.

Can I put the whole thing into a separate file?
- Yes.
- read instructions

Can I get comments on the code?
- For my own purpose, so far, I have everything in my head... But if you want to know how it exactly works -  I'm always there to help!
