Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) No, it was just really fun to beat up Benecio Del Toro. : )

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) He is wonderful! So intelligent, such a hard worker, so committed to what he's doing.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) It was wonderful. So challenging.

Meepo (Prodigy Member) Alicia, who was your favorite Actor/Actress to work with?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Benecio Del Toro!

QuBall 8 (Prodigy Member) Your new movie, Excess Baggage, was real funny and interesting and you played the part great, but did you know right away that this was a movie you wanted to do?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Well, I read the script. The concept was so interesting, that I knew right away I wanted to make a movie out of it. But I wanted to work with people who wanted to work hard and create something that wasn't there on the page.

Auburntigerr (Prodigy Member) I just wanted to let you know that I've used my right not to dissect. I greatly admire the work you're doing for PETA and I think you're a good role model for young people.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Thank you so much! That means so much to me. I'm very glad to hear you say that you refused to dissect, and I hope you can help me spread the word. Maybe start an activist group at your school!

PI Member (Prodigy Member) My name is Marguerite and I am nine years old. I wanted to ask if you liked making the movie "Clueless." It is one of my favorite movies...

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Marguerite, I'm happy you liked that movie! I liked it too, and I had a great time being Cher.

PI Member (Prodigy Member) Alicia, I love all the movies that you have been in. What age did you start acting, and how did your parents feel about it? -- Kimba

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I started training in acting classes at age 12. And had worked in a bakery, and I'd worked making money in modeling to pay for the acting classes, and then just took classes for many years.

Auburntigerr (Prodigy Member) How's Samson doing? He sounds like a great dog.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Samson's doing fine. He's on vacation right now with a friend of mine. And he's so happy.

Taken93 (Prodigy Member) I watched your interview on MTV not to long ago. And I heard you say how you hated girls that were like you in Clueless... I was wondering what were you like in High School. What kind of music did you like? How did you dress? What kind of guys did you like?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I didn't hate girls like Cher, because I never met a girl like Cher! But I hated girls who were materialistic and shallow. Which is why I wanted to give Cher some heart. I was very different than Cher in high school...had very different interests. I was always trying to figure people out.

angelsguy (Prodigy Member) do you like directing more than acting?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) It really depends. If I was acting in a role that was mind-boggling and exciting, then that would be as exciting as producing a really wonderful film. But I really enjoyed making my vision come through to the end. And this project was the most exciting I've ever done/

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Well, I've always wanted to work with Christopher Walken, so that was definite. And once I met Benecio Del Toro, I knew he had to be in the movie. It wouldn't have been worth making if he wasn't involved.

Monoxide22 (Prodigy Member) I just wanted to let you know that I find it amazing how someone like you is able to keep a good down to earth personality in the mist of all the money that can be made in the movie business

comdotcom (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: Alicia, I have read that you don't think that your glamorous, if you feel that way about yourself what chance do other girls have of thinking that they are beautiful.

SweetTeen1 (Prodigy Member) Have you ever wanted to be anything besides an actress?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I was very interested in being a lawyer at one point, then in being a teacher. And that's about it. But I wouldn't like being a lawyer at all...as I get older I see that. But I think a person could be creative and great at what you did. Whatever you do, as long as you put your heart and soul into it. Not one job is really better than the other.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I would imagine yes, but I've probably gained a lot of things I wouldn't have had. So it's a give and take thing. But I have had to grow up fast and haven't had the pleasure of being carefree. So I don't recommend it to anybody. : )

N Young (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: Alicia, I have seen most of your movies and I think your really sexy especially in your new movie.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Nope. But I've read it since. I actually was really stupid, and had no idea that it was based on Emma until I read it, even though Amy Heckerling had pointed it out. Then, I was like, this is exactly like Emma!

Smidrow101 (Prodigy Member) What was the toughest role you have encountered and why?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) The role as a producer. Cause it was so intense and so challenging. But I loved it.

Moderator (Speaker) In EXCESS BAGGAGE, Emily T. Hope (Alicia Silverstone) is a brazen teenager looking for love and an identity. Unfortunately, she is emotionally neglected by her father, Alexander (played by Jack Thompson). Unable to win his approval, Emily has had to resort to a series of dangerous stunts to gain her father's attention, all to no avail. Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Her need for love, and her need for an identity. And I know that most people want that!

McKenzie1Co (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: Alicia, I own clueless and watch it all the time, it's my favorite movie and you played a great Cher! I also saw Excess Baggage, and though it wasn't my favorite movie, I enjoyed it.

CatLovr5 (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: I have like all of your movies so far, but I think I would have to say "Excess Baggage" is one of your best, with "Clueless" running a close second.

HOT GODESS (Prodigy Member) did you get to keep any of the outfits you wore in clueless?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) A lot of them, yes! But I don't like wearing any of them, because they were so short and skimpy, and I don't like stuff like that. I like feeling like I can do anything, and not be restricted by clothing.

EAZY E 23 (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: Alicia I think you're the prettiest actor on the silver screen.

Voodoo Rain (Prodigy Member) Are there any particular actors or actresses you would especially like to work with in your future career?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Oh yes, there are a lot! The most prominent in my mind are probably Amanda Plummer, Judy Davis, Benecio Del Toro, Anjelica Huston, Steve Buscemi.

orange10 (Prodigy Member) Many people who saw "Excess Baggage" would agree that you had many "smoking" scenes. Do you actually smoke "in real life", or did you smoke in the movie because you were "playing" your character?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I don't advocate smoking to anyone! I thought it fit the character, since she was so lonely and angry. I assume she did a lot worse than smoking! : )

BoTtLeRoCkEt (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: Alicia Silverstone.............That has to be the coolest name in the world! It just sounds so perfect!

Carl G (Prodigy Member) COMMENT : Alicia, you are extraordinarily talented...you proved that in Clueless... do you see yourself working on any kind of project that involves a more serious character in a more dramatic type of film anytime soon?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) It depends on the project. I just have to see what challenges me at the time.

orange10 (Prodigy Member) Alicia, I read that you are Jewish and had a Bat Mitzvah. In your life Today, does Judaism still play an active role? If so, how?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) That's a tricky question. A very complicated question that would take me forever to explain. But I appreciate you're asking it. I miss the days of going to temple. But it's a false world to me. Sitting in synagogue, singing songs, it's a very close, warm feeling. But it's not a reflection of the world. But I also feel that religion is in your heart. And you don't have to go to temple to do it.

wynand (Prodigy Member) Alicia, as an actress, where did you find your motivation for the character in Excess Baggage? At the beginning, I noticed how unloved she felt, is that something you have battled personally?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I really connected with Emily's desire to be loved and find out who she is. It's the most important desire in the world, and I really understood that.

Rilyn82 (Prodigy Member) COMMENT: I think that you are an incredibly talented actress and Excess Baggage was wonderful. I saw it on opening night.

BoTtLeRoCkEt (Prodigy Member) What do you do in your spare time?

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) There isn't a lot of spare time. But I love eating at yummy restaurants with girlfriends, and I love hanging out with drag queens, though I don't do it that often, unfortunately! And I like being with my dog, hiking. And I like sitting in my house, but I don't do that very often. I like taking showers, and I don't do that very often. : ) I never knew how much I'd appreciate showers.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Just I hope you see Excess Baggage and love it! It's the most important thing I've done as a human being and an aspiring artist. But I don't know what projects I have coming up. I have projects for my life, not necessarily in the film world.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) Relationships are really important to me. And I'm finding everyday how important it is to be with yourself.

I know that a lot of people must say this to celebrities, but it's true. Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I had to leave school to do The Crush, and I never went back. And then, this year, I took a couple of classes at a school, but I had to quit because of my commitments to Excess Baggage and Batman, but I will go back.

Alicia Silverstone (Speaker) I look for specific things in friends, so they are usually individuals, not groups. Those individuals are fun, intelligent, and I don't really mix with those other people.
