Working on testing applications developed in ProC , SQL , Perl for the EAGLS Project with Bank Of America.This project involves issuing credit cards to employees of Government Agencies and sending monthly report of transactions on those cards to the agencies.
Responsibilities included conducting Y2K Compliance Audit for various clients for their COBOL Applications using tools developed in-house and preparing reports. Clients included State Farm Insurance, International Paper, LaPoste , Societe Generale, Bank One and People's Gas, Light and Coke.
For each of the applications we had to look into the size of the date fields involved in MOVE statements , date fields in VSAM keys , date fields in ORDER BY or WHERE clauses of SQL statements , IMS segment keys ,date related fields in CICS statements like READNEXT, READPREV and also hard coded date fields and centuries.
Also responsible for preparing data for SQLLOAD for the Oracle database of the Human Resources Department.
Conducted systems audit of 11 Banking centers while in Indian Overseas bank.The centers had packages in COBOL and Clipper.The purpose of the audit was to check for version control and proper follow up of security practices
As consultant, assisted in a project involving automating the operations of a large commercial bank in India using Sybase and Powerbuilder. Responsibilities included discussing needs with the client , providing technical guidance in the design and implementation of the project and sending weekly progress reports to the corporate office.
Responsible for administering the database of a Banking Center (employing 60 operations and lending personnel) of a large commercial bank. Duties included creation and modification of new users, maintenance of existing and new customer account files, backup procedures and safeguarding system security. Also responsible for developing and implementing enhancements to the system in close consultation with the bank's Computer Policy and Planning Department. The system runs applications written using SYBASE with APT as front-end. Client-server system runs on UNIX operating system. Responsibilities as DBA also included running data base consistency checks and recovering database after a crash using the backup and the log.
One of eight members of a team which developed applications on SYBASE (ver. 4.9 and 10.0) using APT as front-end for automating bank operations. Also successfully implemented these applications in various branches of the bank on RISC systems such as HP9000 series, E35, Sun, SS2 and SS10, IBM and Data-General Avion. The report programs were written using DB Library C interface. These software packages continue to be used and have increased overall efficiency and lowered costs.
Project involved designing forms for the user interface and using SQL to query the database and print reports or display data on the screen.The program written by me for the Central Office module involved entering a set of numbers allocated to the banking center by the Central office. It also had options to modify or delete the numbers in case of a wrong entry.It also had provisions to view all the series that had been allocated to the center since the implementation of the package.The program for the Sundry Creditors Module involved printing a report consisting of all Sundry Creditors /Suspense transactions for date keyed in by the user.The program for the Demand Drafts and Banker's Cheque modules involved listing all issues or payments or outstandings satisfying criteria such as date and center issued to keyed in by the user.The programs for the "Foreign Exchange transactions in Suspense" module were called daybegin and dayend.The dayend program would update the permanent tables with the transactions from the daily table while the daybegin would truncate the daily table and get ready for the day's operations.The program for the Bills for collection module involved lodging outstation cheques / bills deposited by a customer.It also took care of passing relevant contra entries.On realisation the program would pass the reversal entries and credit the customer's account after deducting the necessary charges.
One of three members of a team which successfully developed packages in COBOL for use by the Stationery Department and Banking Operations Department of the bank. The package for the Stationery Department was for inventory control and processed billing , receipts, payments made and reorder level. The Banking Operations Department package was for compiling data received from various centers and forwarding to a regulatory agency.
On successful completion of 24 month management training program was posted as an officer in various branches of the bank. Handled responsibilities in Savings, Checking, Term Deposits, Clearing and Retail Loan Departments.Had three or four persons reporting to me.
