Born with a mutant gift that she could not control, the woman know only as Mystique lived a secret life of emotional pain and ridacule. Her ability to mimic the appearence of anyone eventualy lead her to Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants. There she gained the place and purpose that she missed as a young adult and took on the ideals of Magneto and his mission to place mutants above humans where they rightfully belong.
