Comments: The first Mortal Kombat could have been a simple commercial attempt to make some money off of the crowd who played the game in the arcades. However, what the film turned out to be was a kinetic mix of kick-flick, dark fantasy, state-of-the art digital effects and with a healthy dose of action-adventure thrown in. Director Paul Anderson made an impressive major film debut and pulled off what a lot of people weren't expecting: a fun, enjoyable movie.
If the sequel is to follow the plot from the second arcade game, expect to see the return of Rayden, Shang Tsung, Scorpion, Meelina and Sub Zero. Sonya Blade's special forces companion Jax, who was seen briefly in the first film, should also return with a beefier role. Baraka, an assassin from Outworld, should also make an appearance as Liu Kang's nemesis.

However, the real question Mortal Kombat fans are screaming to ask is: will there be any babalities???

Other Important Notes:
Sister Machine Gun, with their new single titled "Deeper Down" will be on the Mortal Kombat 2 soundtrack. Sabre from the American Gladiators television series has reportedly been signed to play the role of Jax. The budget is set for $30 million, which is about the same as the first film.
Smoke and Noob Saibot will be in it. The storyline has something to do with Shao Kahn cheating and coming to Earth. The $30 million dollar film is scheduled to shoot in 5 countries, including Jordan and Israel. Shooting in Noth Wales has been completed as of November 17th. Quad bikes were used to transport the crew from the roadside to the set.

Fights:
Robot Smoke vs. Liu Kang - Smoke is clearly winning in this fight, before Sub-Zero freezes him from behind. The only special move done during the fight was Smoke's Teleport Uppercut. While this is going on, Kitana fights regular outworld ninjas.
Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero - Very evenly matched. Scorpion does his harpoon, which touches Sub-Zero's Ice Clone. However, Scorpion has the last laugh when he captures Kitana and teleports away.
Cyrax vs. Jax - Jax is just getting the feel of his new arms. Sonya fights soldiers while Jax gets kicked around by Cyrax. Jax finally gets Cyrax up against a wall and punches the daylights out of him. Still able to fight though, Cyrax gets killed by an unexpected kiss of death from Sonya.
Jade vs. Liu Kang - Very brief, with no special moves. The fight is stopped when Jade says that Liu Kang has "Passed the test".
