Ororo Munroe was
born in Africa and was raised by her parents in Cairo. When her
parents were killed, she was raised by master-thief Achmed el-Gibar
who taught her the skills she used to survive. Eventually discovering
her mutant power to control the weather, she was worshipped as a
goddess in Kenya until approached by Charles Xavier to join his
new team of X-Men. Storm also once challenged Callisto for leadership
of the Morlocks and, having bested Callisto in hand-to-hand combat,
won. She also had her powers stripped by a gun invented by Forge,
whom she was once romantically involved with, but she eventually
regained her powers. Forge even proposed to Storm once, and she
was going to say yes before Forge decided she could never leave
the X-Men and left. Storm now acts as co-leader with Cyclops. Storm's
mutant power creates a psychic bond between her and the primal life-force
of the Earth's biosphere.
"Why Storm?", so many people ask... and It's
really hard for me to explain because there is so much to it. The
answer is a pretty deep one. The story starts with the first time
I even chatted on the internet, and I was looking for a "handle"
(nickname). I decided I wanted some kind of comic character. When
I ran across Storm and the more I read about her, the more I could
relate to her. Now, over time the more I've thought about the many
characteristics of a storm the more I could relate. The Storm has
become more of a living entity for me, and every time it rains,
it almost always goes along with my mood. That's one of the best
things about a Storm. The emotion. Storm is emotion,
and I am an emotional person. The lightning and thunder can make
the storm angry, the slow way raindrops slide down the window can
make the storm sad, the gentle rhythm the rain makes can make a
storm a solemn, calm, and soothing escape. The rain puddles a storm
makes are fun, dancing under the falling sky w/your loved one keeping
you warm can make it romantic. I am at one time or another all these
things.. and the way a storm can change so rapidly and unpredictably
is very characteristic of myself. A storm is also strong.. it has
the ability to be completely destructive or it can replenish things
and help them grow.
