When it comes to Full-Size Jeeps, and XJ's
it's amazing the ignorance that's out
there among mechanics, parts clerks and even jeep dealers.
Examples:
yeah, that's a 327 Chevy in your 67 Jeep...
yeah, that's the same 6 cyl (4.0) they used in the old Jeeps...
the 6 cylinder in the XJ's is the same as the old 4.2 L
yeah, that 2.5L engine in that XJ is the Iron Duke...
you mean they put Diesels in Jeeps??? (at the dealer...)
that's a factory diesel? (also at the dealer...)
that's not the same 2.8L V6 that went in the S10s... (parts clerk)
that's the Dodge Truck 360 in your Wagoneer
the Buick, Olds, and Chevy 350 are all the same motor
True story!
After sitting for 15 mins in the waiting room, the Service Mgr.
walks up and says: "We can't work on that thing. We don't know anything about
it" (at a Jeep dealer in CA).
TYPICAL JEEP OWNER REACTION TO SAID IGNORANCE:
So, I grabbed him by the sleeve and pulled him out the door. Pointed to the
Jeep emblem on my grille and said "See......JEEP" Then I pointed up at the
sign in front and said "See....Jeep Service."
