[ Yeergh. I hope you don't actually *agree* with the Soft Man's
argument in Turn 1. That was meant to show how evil he was, not to be
convincing! :-) ]

[ Fine, you find out some useful things, but nothing earth shattering,
so I'll have more info for you when the action sequence is over, if
that's all right. My blood is up for the combat! :-) ]

[ There are at least two ways to do this in the mechanics. The first,
and easiest, is to simply use less of your STR, or other power, in the
attack. You roll less dice, and even spend less END. The second is the
"Pull Blow" maneuver, which costs you -1 OCV per 3d6 of your attack
(so -3 for Cheetax), but if you hit by at least 1, you only do 1/2 as
much BODY damage, though full STUN damage. If you make your "to hit"
roll exactly, you do full STUN and BODY damage.

The second is the more complicated option, but that is what I will
use for this phase, since I'm not sure just how much you want to pull
your attack. Next turn you can specify - "use only 15 of my 28 STR, so
do 7d6 rather than 9.5d6 damage" or something, if you'd like.]

[ I'll have to rule that all as taking all of 3 phases. Each phase you
can basically do two things, and only one attack. So the first phase,
Cheetax takes a half-phase to scoop up dirt, and makes a half-move
towards the target. The second phase she will throw and spring - I
won't call the throw a separate attack, just a "surprise move"
modifier on the real attack. The attack will be a Grab and Throw, even
if the Throw is merely down in the same hex. Technically you can Throw
or Squeeze someone with your STR after a successful Grab, so I imagine
you wouldn't mind trying to do a bit of damage there, even though you
will only get to use your 28 STR, not your "HA" (Cheetah's aren't much
into Grabbing?). Then, if the target seems still conscious by your
third phase, you could do a pulled Punch, using your Strike
damage. The Grabbed target will be at 1/2DCV to you. ]

[ Good, that's sort of the way I played it. Actually, the NPCs should
be having a bit more trouble seeing you, it is night after all, if a
clear starry night. Also, I'll mark the streetlamps on the map. You
with your Ultraviolet vision take no penalties even away from the
lamps, but the more normal folks should. OK, now to the turn
resolution!]

[Phase 3:]

Cheetax, crouching from her pounce, scoops up some soil and grass
using her claws, as discreetly as possible.
        [ Stealth 15-, roll 8. ]
Cheetax then begins a silent, loping, trot towards "Tiger's head", all
the while warily keeping an eye on 'Foulmouth','Doctor D.', &
'Virgil'. She ignores the terrified Raoul and brushes by him. He
screams louder, making her wince a bit. Cheetax stops just out of the
blue-clad youth's range,
        [ 12,06 ]
and crouches, tense as a coiled spring.

"Come on, you ugly monster! I'm ready for you!" the man with the
tiger's head pendant challenges, and shifts his stance just a hair.
[ Holds his phase, still set.]

The woman bearing the tiger's left paw runs to her fallen friend, and
runs her hands over his chest, feeling the broken ribs. She sobs under
her breath. Ignoring everything else, she starts ripping up his jacket
for bandages.

[ Phase 4: ]

The trio of black men advances another few steps.

"She doesn't talk very much - unlike our fair company - I see." Virgil
observes. "I wonder if she understands speech? We need to make a sign
so she knows we are on the same side. Foulmouth - the missy there that
you're closest too seems to be unengaged. Why don't you ... take care
of her. Nothing permanent, you understand, just make an
impression. The good Doctor and I will watch our new ally at work, and
be ... non-threatening."

"F*%^'n right." Foulmouth trots towards where the tiger's left paw
woman is tending her fallen comrade, and pulls a small blackjack from
his voluminous sweatshirt jacket. The other two instead make an effort
to hold their empty hands open in front of them, stopping some
distance from Cheetax.

"We all right, Jack, but you watch your back. You've a mean attack,
but don't cut her no slack." Doctor D. advises his friend's retreating
form.

"Shut the f*&$ up." Foulmouth mutters.

[ Phase 5: ]

Cheetax crouches (preparing for a jump) and tosses her handful of dirt
at the eyes of "tiger's head"
[ NPC PER roll 15 - had to beat the amount by which Cheetax
succeeded in her Stealth a bit back to be ready for the
dirt - he was watching her after all. But wasn't ready.
Cheetax gets +2 OCV for her maneuver. ]
then immediately after throwing the dirt, jumps, this time with arms
out.

The youth with the tiger's head coughs and blinks to clear away the
dirt, but moves in reaction. He was expecting the attack, and tries to
grab and throw Cheetax himself.

[ DEX contest to see who gets to try to Grab & Throw first. Cheetax
DEX 23, for a DEX roll of (9 + 23/5) = 14-. She gets -1 for the
preliminary jump (she had distance to cover). Roll 14, failed by 1.
Tiger head DEX roll (mumble), -2 for the dirt-in-the-eyes, +1 for
being set, roll 11, he tries first.
Cheetax DCV 8, -2 for the Grab maneuver (when trying to grab you are
more open to your target), total 6. Tiger head OCV (mumble), -0 for
the Martial Throw maneuver, -2 for the dirt-in-the-eyes, +1 for being
set, roll 9. He hits!]

With a loud "Kiai!" yell, the blue-clad youth snatches the Felinoid's
hurtling form out of the air, barely avoids her grasping claws,
pivots, and throws her into the scarred circular picnic table to the
side.

[ His STR is 18 (you can feel it now!) for 3.5d6 damage, the Martial
Throw maneuver adds 1d6 per 5" of YOUR velocity. You weren't going
even 5", but I'll give +2d6 for the leap, since you were airborne,
that way easier to throw. Total 5.5d6. Roll 17 STUN, 4 BODY, taken by
both you and the table. You have 6 PD characteristic, 8 from your
tough hide, 14 total, so you take 3 STUN. The Table is DEF 3, it takes
1 BODY. You are knocked down unless you make a Breakfall roll to land
on your feet. Breakfall skill 14-, -1/2d6 Knockback or throw force, so
11-, roll 11. Make it. Roll 3 on 1d6 for Knockback for the light table
- the table takes 1 hex of Knockback.]

The wooden and metal table cracks, and spins to one side, topling
over, but Cheetax twists in the air like a cat, and lands on her feet
easily. She is mainly hurt in her pride. [ Would she yowl? ]

[ Phase 6: ]

"So! So will all fare agains the Sons of the Tiger!" the tiger head
wearing youth exults. "Run, monster, run home to your cubs - or I can
do worse! Run!"

At the other end of the park, the girl in the blue costume wraps her
companion's ribs in bandages torn from his shirt. Yes, he is a black
man, from his exposed skin. He does not move.

The kids have almost reached the park gate they were running towards.
With a sob, Raoul decides on the better part of valor himself, and
starts running towards the northern gate.

[ Phase 8: Cheetax, your action! ]
